    Reinstall TF2 without downloading

    Hi folks,

I just downloaded Windows 7 RC1 x64 from Microsoft.com. Is there a way to reinstall TF2 without having to re-download it through Steam?

My OS is on the C: partition, and Steam is installed on another one. So, I will still have all my TF2 configs and stuffs once Windows 7 is installed.

Is there a way to remap Steam to the right folder in order to avoid the re-download?

    Thank you very much

yes there is. its actually really easy. copy the whole steam folder over to your new program files. find the steam launcher in there and make a shortcut on your desktop. If it doesnt like that then you can reinstall just steam and copy the game gfc files and your set

yeah if you go into steam and then right click on TF2 and choose back up local client or something like that you burn all the patches and configure files to a disk so that when you reinstall you install off the backup disk.

This is exactly what I did. Steam created a backup exe that I just launched and it installed TF2 and L4D on the new drive.

Yes its a great way to install a game like TF2 with out waiting for hours to redownload all the patches. I think it backs up custom maps/sounds as well.

Just copy over the GCF or the packages that are in the /steamapps/ directory. Should auto-install off those.
