View Full Version : Some of the behind the scenes for the ZPS server

As some of you may know, the ZPS has had it's hardships and takes alot of work to get running. It's also extremely complicated to work out as well. Anyway, I've decided to graphically show what's been going on behind the scenes.
The curve you see is my projected activity of the server.

1) ZPS was featured by valve as a community mod and SF jumped on the bandwagon with a free server for one month in a trial period.
Current Admins are Pancakes, Stewart, and Sniffles.
2) ZPS has been removed from the game list and must be manually sought after from this point on.
Current Admins: Pancakes, Stewart, Sniffles. Stewart and Sniffles go inactive.
3) Supplemental admins added by Eclyps.
Current Admins: Pancakes, Catas, Cykodryver.
Inactive Admins: Stewart and Sniffles.
4) Holiday Season. Most people are not playing on games and are visiting family.
5) Holiday Season ends.
6) Servers are unexpectedly very active. Almost online and full at all times of the day from Friday to Sunday night. Unknown cause aside from micromanagement of changing map to zpl_armory2 everytime server dipped to ~6 people.
Suggestion to add script to the server to have armory2 be the only map when 6 or less people are playing.
Ultimatum given by Jokerz. Either the server starts getting more active or Stompfest would drop it's support for ZPS and seek different venues.
Glitch wipes all admins from Sourcemod but later readded Catas. Cyko informed he was accidentally wiped from admin hash.
Current Admins: Catas.
7) ZPS 1.5 released and supplemental admin added. Pancakes informed that he was accidentally wiped from admin hash.
Current Admins: Catas, Chaosbrix
8) Steam cloud changes all Steam IDs from STEAM_0 to STEAM_1. Admins unable to access commands in-game. Chaos unable to play ZPS while laptop borked. Catas gains rcon access and VNC connectivity to administrate while on campus.

Current situation:
No admins can access commands in game.

Active Admins: Catas
Admins with issues:
Chaos (Laptop with ZPS unable to work. ZPS can't be installed on Desktop)
Pancakes (Graphics card overheats and causes game not to work. Buying new card after next mission. Needs to be readded to admin hash)
cykodryver (Off to boot camp. Needs to be readded to admin hash?)
Inactive Admins: Stewart and Sniffles.

What are you trying to say we need more people to play and become regs? or do you want to add new admins to help in game?

I'm not trying to say anything. I'm just showing the current situation and what's been going on in the past.
The current track is positive and things will be fine when Chaos and Pancakes get their hardware issues settled.

admin should be working just fine in ZPS. I'll test it this weekend when I have some time.

if you need a hand i could try and help you Catas, i have been thinking about playing ZPS again, i'll download it today, give me a shout when you try and fill servers, ill see if i can help.

The servers are filled up right now. There's currently no issue with the server itself now. Just minor things that E fixes when I bring them up. I'm glad he spent the time writing the rotation script to have next map be armory when it dips below a certain player count. =)

As you can see on the chart, the server is on an upward trend to being active though likely never reach the levels it was at position 1 as the user base was gigantic with people trying the mod out.

What you can help out with is creating a community so people can recognize the SF name. Currently the majority of the regulars aren't SF people and they just come for the server and not the community.
Though to be honest, that's mostly my fault because I don't have "Come visit Stompfest.com" to a key like you guys at the TF2 server do. =P

aaaand it just crashed. Not sure if it was from the new plugin or not. Investigating now.

Well, i have yet to try out 1.5 (well now it's on 1.5.1 but yea) so i'm gonna stop by soon anyway to give it a go :D

and WELL DONE E, way to ruin the server rank by crashing it! GAWD!

Sorry everyone. D: Just never saw all the crap that happened to me coming. XD

First, lappy dies, then my account gets hijacked. At least I got it back now. XD So yeeey. Hopefully I'll find a way to get ZPS back again.

Good news and bad news:

Good News:
Plugin sucessfully installed and now we don't have to change the map to armory manually anymore as much.
Chaos is back, sorta.

Bad News:
Due to an update of the Orange Box engine, the majority of ZPS servers are unable to be accessed. More here (http://www.stompfest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9851).

First, lappy dies, then my account gets hijacked. At least I got it back now. XD So yeeey. Hopefully I'll find a way to get ZPS back again.
Hope the hijackers didn't hack with it while it was in their possession. :/
