Goldfinger is always a good show. I think Less Than Jake is great live, also.

lulz ska...............
GTFO! RBF is NOT ska, they are rock with horns.
I'm a Ska Nazi. I'm REALLY huge into ska/reggae and Jamaican music so I'm kind of an elitist about it. RBF tainted how people think of ska. They think of it as a giddy, bubbly, silly type of music with off-beat guitar. REAL ska isn't like that. I hate RBF and Less Than Jake, amongst other bands, who tainted the image of ska music.

Bro, do you realize that most people don't even know what ska is??? What is wrong with the people thinking that ska, is RBF or LTJ? When all these bands are doing, is using their influences to create decent music. These influences being ska, 2-tone, and reggae. I don't see a problem in grouping these such bands, into the ska genre. It is as much as I see a problem in calling Rush - "classic rock". I think you should be more openminded.
p.s. The Beat kicks your ass.

Believe me, i used to listen to listen to RBF and LTJ when I was younger but from a musicians standpoint it isn't ska. Some bands still hold some sort of traditional influence in ska music, RBF and LTJ don't. They use a punk/rock beat with horns over it. To throw it into the ska category, you need to have some sort of root influence, if you sever the roots, the plant dies.
Common misconception is that ska is all about off-beat guitar, but it isn't. What defines ska is the drums and the bass, mainly the drums. It's a paticular kind of beat called "One Drop". You can't play a rock groove and call it Samba, therefore you can't play a punk beat and call it ska.

Goldfinger is Ska Punk though. Listen to them, the ska influence is extremely noticeable.

Who cares what they're defined as? Does it really matter? I personally think they're hilarious, and write damn good catchy songs. Saw them this year at Warped Tour and they were fucking awesome.

Dudes, the best ska band is Reel Big Fish. The split they did with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones is awesome.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones are also the shit. Mr. Moran and Royal Oil are my favorite.
