Beagles are the most awful dogs ever. We had one before and it sucked horribly. I miss my Black Lab though, best dog I ever had. I cried when she died.

I think labs are cute and all, but like most puppies they have the downside of getting big real quick =(
The dogs that I had were Bichon Maltese's. Cute little dogs even though they weren't bred small like most people do. They were around like...20 lbs even.

supercute dog. i <3 labs, they are very nice doggies. :)

however, if i were you, i'd keep your youth along with your wife and wait a good 10 years before you have children. enjoy your time with her for a while. (ie: vacations, exotic cars, frequent romance). unless you start to hate each other (which, sadly, occurs very frequently), then you can pop some babies out.

as for the puppy, good choice :) I'm a german shepherd guy myself, but labs would definitely be second on the list.
