So here are a few pics my friend took of the tree and powerlines in her backyard. This was completely unexpected and we received no warning in our area that this would occur which made the situation much worse. I'm sure it did far worse things to TX so my heart goes out to those who suffered far worse in those areas.

Sadly in our area a few lives were lost. One couple was riding on a motorcycle leaving a park after attending a memorial for a few men who died in Iraq and a 100 ft beech tree fell on them. A 25 yr old firefighter was struck in the head by a falling tree and is paralyzed fromt he waist down. If you're any kind of religious keep them and their families in your prayers.

Almost every house in our city had at least 1 tree down in the yard. It was the craziest thing I'd ever seen. We had no rain just really high winds and the damage covers 84 counties...

My in-laws lost 7 trees and have stacked a 15 ft high bonfire. I'll post pics when that happens. lol. We were lucky. We sustained no physical damage to our property (though I still need to check the roof) but we were without power for 3 days which blew.

Yeah, approximately 60% of Columbus/Franklin County was without power. (I was lucky and managed to retain.)

What's worse, the local power company -- American Electric Power -- had just sent a number of crews down to Texas to help with rebuilding there, so they didn't even have the manpower to get everything up and running properly. Initial forecasts said that some areas may go up to a week without power, because the damage is so widespread.

I've never liked people or things named Ike. I wanna kill Kyle's little brother Ike from southpark now :P

Its unbelievable that remnants of Ike could do that. The worse we got at my place was some downpours.

Yeah, lots of areas lost power nearby where I live but my family and I only had a few branches ripped off trees. Its very surprising how much damage came from Ike.
