Who is seriously interested in going to ACen 2009 (http://www.acen.org/)?

I can definitely get one room free for the weekend at any hotel from the Marriott family. I thought I was going to be able to get two, but that is looking unlikely now. Still, that means ~3 people can stay in Chicago for the weekend on me. If you'd like to pay me back, I take cash, food, booze... pretty much anything. :P

I'll be driving in from Columbus (OH). I would also be willing to pick up/carpool with people who live between there and Chicago, provided people are willing to chip in for gas money.

That said, who's in? How long do you want to stay in Chicago? Thoughts/Plans?

CorruptDictator

I am highly interested. For me, Chicago is home so unless my parents move in the next 8 months (ya never know) I would prolly just crash there for the weekend. Of course, I suggest several nights of unhealthy behavior including excess drinking and awesome food. I would be coming in from southeast MN.

Well it would kind of depend on how many people were going/willing to dress up and what anime we all like.

Not sure what my costume would be though.

Infinity and beyond.

Infinity and beyond.

You got it wrong. You need to drop the yaoi line first, THEN it's infinity and beyond. Otherwise it's slim and unlikely.

Girl: Hey
You: I like yaoi
Girl: DO ME NOW

You're doing it wrong. They have to start the conversation first. Going up randomly to some person and saying you like yaoi...I mean, what if you said it to a crossplayer? Explains it alot, huh? =O

I'm going to assume by Crossplayer, you mean Cosplayer? I don't bean to be a dick, just curious. :O.

But, on any other note; if I could go to ACEN that would be pretty neat. Hopping on the TF2 bandwagon of cosplaying and all. I'd probably dress up as the Soldier. :D

Having moved out of my parents house only 4 months ago though, and I've still no job (I got an interview for a job on thursday, with me luck! :D), but I'll see what happens.

Of course, I am always open for prop comissions. Nothing is made out of metal, since the convention would not allow it. Most of the props are made from pvc pipes, foamcore, wood, and other pieces. I am working on a sniper costume as well.

Engie Weapons
Oversized Wrench - $35
Pistol - $30
Shotgun - $45
Dispencer - $100
Sentry Gun - lvl1 $60 lvl2 $100 lvl3 $160

Sniper Weapons
Sniper Rifle - $100
Kukri - $40
SMG - $60

Pyro Weapons
Flamethrower - $150 (anykind)
Axe - $25 w/ safe barbed wire $40
Shotgun - $45

These prices do not include shipping. And if you meet me at ACEN you don't need to pay shipping! Huzzah!

Crossplayer = Cosplayer who dresses up as the opposite gender, (crossdressing). Just saying.

I've met a few guys who made really convincing girls, sometimes I had to look for a long while till I finally could decide what the hell they were.

..

I might be a TF2 spy, but I think I'll prolly be a character from an anime. Last year I was Saiga from Speed Grapher =D

Last year I was mew from Jet Grind Radio. Security chased me around for the whole con since I was on roller blades. Everytime I bumped into one, they would say "Can you have those on?" Then get on their radio and say "Can she have those on-Hey where'd she go?!" zip!

Well, if we want to go with faves, I would have to dress as Gourry but I don't think I would have the time or patience to put that together (I am more technically inclined than artisticly unless you count my writing). I always though the sweetest costume possible for a cosplay would me Seshomarou (sp?). I don't like Inuyasha at all, but I love the way he looks.

At most I'd stay at a hotel with one RL friend of mine, unless i can book a room somewhere all for myself. I somehow doubt this is at all possible. Bah, I'll figure it out =S

Glork

How many people at this point plan on staying in a hotel room? I count myself, Tango, and PBA, as the CD/Catas are likely to stay with family.

If there are just going to be three of us, and Tango has space in her room and is wiling ot share, I don't see the purpose in my booking another room. I was under the impression from when this first came up that five or six people would be going and staying in hotels, but I may have been mistaken.

EDIT: Okay, add ClarkSurprise to that list.

Catas
10-02-2008, 07:23 AM
I was saying I would stay with family, but it's too inconvinient to drive 2 hours, then have to take a 45 minute train xD

Either way, yeah. I'll probably try to get in a room with RL friends...so it doesn't matter anyway.

Hellz yes!
BTW, I was hoping at least 10-20 people wanted to go, since that is not the case, we will not be eligible for a group discount. That being said, I am not going to disband the Stompfest Group in the ACEN registration (https://www.acen.org/registration/). You can still be apart of the group, just put Stompfest in the group section. The group will no longer accept members after Dec 30. That doesn't mean you still can't come. Bring your friends!

Hard to say if her hair is orange or an off shade of blond, really depends on the picture you look at. Well, I hit the part of my tv series watching where I begin the Anime binge. Just now started watching Death Note, which is just mind-blowingly good. Afterward, I'll most likely hit up Trigun and Berserk, the latter being perhaps one of the strangest ending to a series I have ever seen. Time to begin the half year preparation.

The Death Note manga was much better than the anime, IMO... the anime effed around with timelines a bit.

Blue Seed is about blue seeds that give demons power, they look like half ying yangs and alot of sexual tension between the main male demon and his female cohort, whom conveniently wore different patterned underwear each episode.

I reccomend, instead, Blue Gender. XD

Also, just to continue the ever-changing cosplay discussion... Six and I most recently discussed me being Captain Hammer and him being Dr. Horrible for a day. I know it's not anime, but it should still work. And I could probably still do the Sniper deal (and Six can do Vash).

Speaking of registering. I paid early, and will be recieving the badge in the mail. I'm avoiding that damn line at all costs!
Last year 50% of mail-badges did not get recieved on time. The staff found out and all went on strike a day before the con. No staff and those that didn't have a badge had to wait for 3+ hours in line, pay an extra $5, and then get their $5 back after they sent back their late badge. Lame, right?
Every year I've gone to Acen it's been different, the year before Pre-reg was a faster line, the year before that was the opposite. Now I just get a badge from Digital Discs and work security for them for a few hours while drinkin beer, good times! Also, if you're leaving early on Sunday, sell your badge for $10 to some poor smoe at the boxoffice. You make money and they get in, huzzah! btw.. never repeat any of this. XD

Then again, after a murder, the scene of the crime is usually the safest place to be....

I can p much guarantee you that NOBODY will want that to happen again, and getting badges out on time will be a point of focus, probably to an unreasonable degree.

I forgot to mention that even then, only half of the people had to wait 3 hours. Which means there would be a 50% chance I wouldn't have to wait at all by paying an extra dollar. ;D

But you're right. Things will probably go well this year.
