So in an effort to show those who are unfamiliar with TF2 competitions how some of the matches go, I figured I could upload a POV demo here to show what I see during a match.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

1) We do almost all of our talking in Vent, so you won't hear much communication. Sometimes a member will talk in-game (mostly L2P) in this case, but we're constantly talking in vent, nonstop. So if it doesn't seem like we're communicating much, don't worry -- we are.

2) This unfortunately wasn't a terribly interesting match. Sometimes they are really lopsided like this in our favor, other times we get rolled completely by the really good teams, sometimes it's really competitive.

3) The demo starts well before the match. Go to tick 45000 to get to the start of the match. Before that we're just waiting for everyone to get there and screwing around. Also because of some confusion on CGS rules, we discuss whether we're done after the second round. We are finished then (around tick 135000), and the rest of the time we just mess around. Between those 2 ticks is the actual match -- it should be pretty obvious.

So here is the demo of the full match from my point of view:

Soldier POV of T.K.O. Brandname (http://files.filefront.com/cgs+match1dem/;11765206;/fileinfo.html)
Scout POV of T.K.O. Blonde (http://files.filefront.com/cgs+fishdem/;11765726;/fileinfo.html)
Scout/Engi/Pyro POV of T.K.O. Iron Lung (http://files.filefront.com/proam1dem/;11766217;/fileinfo.html)
Soldier POV of T.K.O. Vindictive (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IXHQBMA4)

If any other TKO members wish to add their demos I will edit this and put them in here.

If you watch it and like it or don't like it give me some feedback. If people like it I may upload others as we play them.

Remember this isn't a highlight video so you'll be seeing all my mistakes too. :-/

Fantastic. Given how little I get to actually play, I'm getting my hands on as many demos as possible. Thanks, Brandname!

Same as Brand with the start and stop times of the demo. I started the demo quite some time before the match started.

we have a youtube account under the name teampunchout. I loaded the demoman competition final there this week. Other than that Ditship posted some garry's mod stuff. I've yet to figure out the best way to do everything so that its both high quality and not as time consuming.

If I get some spare time I will see if I can figure it out. The unfortunate problem with actually making videos out of everything is that it adds exponentially to the time. Surprisingly time consuming, even for something relatively simple (especially considering I'm relatively inexperienced with VirtualDub).

But it's something that I've been exploring, and I may try to work on it. Also, creating a high resolution video over a half hour in length requires huge amounts of disk space, so there's that too.

This might be a stupid question but how do you view a demo? Thanks.

put it in your tf folder in your steam directory. then what you do is in the console (after launching the game) type "play" followed by the name of the demo

example: "play roflcakes.dem"

ZUEIG, when you download the demo, place it into your /team fortress 2/tf folder (where all recorded demos are kept). Then open up TF2, press ~ to bring up the console and type in:

playdemo [filename.dem]

It'll start automatically from there. To bring up the demo playback UI, press Shift+F2. This will allow you to move forward or backwards in the demo.

Let me know if you still have trouble.

You could also just press SHIFT-F2 to bring up the Demo UI window which has a Load button that lets you hunt them down on your HD.

There are these white and red things littered around the map. Word is they increase your health when you touch them

I hear sometimes if you're dying as a medic and you press right-click, stuff happens that prevents you from dying right away.

:D?
