View Full Version : stop stacking red ppl!
im not sure if its just when im on, but im sick of auto assigning and getting set to blue and then recognizing 1 or 2 regulars on my team and then seeing like 10 regs on red. it happens all the time. im sick of either steam rolling or getting steam rolled. i know its fun to win, but when the game is so easy you never lose then it loses the point of even being a fun game.:sign0100:
o and i espicially hate when im the first one on blue, and then everyones holding 4 down to stack red. i watch the tab screen and see like 15 ppl in spec then when one joins blue 2 join red, and no one joins for like 30-45 secs then someone joins blue and without a .0000001 sec delay someone is on red and so on.
so lets make the game more interesting and go half regs on blue half regs on red, bc its a complete myth that blue players start off with less ammo and health than red.:sign0009:

I hate stacking as much as the next person but I do want to be able to play on Offense or Defense when I want. Some maps like Gravel Pit I really don't care since you get to play both at least two or three times but on maps like Dustbowl or Goldrush I prefer Red most of the time. Playing mostly Heavy and Demo I do better on Defense so that's where I will play most of the time. Maps like well don't really matter either because both teams have the same objective. But as you can see in my stats, I am almost even when playing Red or Blu 69-66.

Auto assign fixes this... I like that it shows that you clicked 'Random' now.
Problem lies in most of the regulars joining on one side. It's tough because the more the regulars play together, the more they become friends. Everyone wants to play with friends. I know I do.
Unless a select few people are playing, I will always auto assign and switch teams if it seems unbalanced. That's what you need to do to make the difference. You can't control what other people are going to do. You CAN try your best not to be a team stacker yourself.

Meh.... show me someone who switches teams every time they realize they are on a stacked team. If you don't switch every time then you can't bitch. I know for a fact I have played against a stacked team that you were on for the entire map.

I don't know why, but i feel better playing on the RED team, even on maps like granary where team doesnt matter, red is winrar, i think Astro said it up there, red for life.
Also, Chord, i know what you mean, i have at least 2 or 3 people who say i am the best medic ever.
(im not kidding, i even have screenies because i was shocked.)

mmmh yes, i understand your problem here. maybe every other uber you should start your uber on someone like a demo or soldier, then one second in, run away from them and finish the uber on a spy or sniper. that way you wont pwn as much

That actually has some merit. It has been statistically shown that people who wear red are more likely to succeed. Tiger Woods often follows this by wearing red at golf tournaments.
It's all psychological though of course... or maybe Valve stuck in higher crit chances for the red team... <sf>

I've seen them on different teams plenty, and I see eb0's girl play sniper a lot more than medic.
Anyhoo... on tug of war maps (2fort, fastlane, well, turbine, labor, granary, etc...) I don't care which side I'm on - tho I don't click random, I just pick whichever team has the fewest (and isn't inaccessible), so it's basically the same thing (no, I don't go into spec to see who's on which teams). But when I'm on an attack/defense map, I tend to start on red just 'cuz I never know when I'm going to have to drop off for a while and I prefer to play defense.
I'm tired of caring if one side is stacked or not, though. If your team uses a good class balance, it shouldn't be a steam-roll, and you need to focus on convincing your teammates to change classes accordingly. If you don't have a medic, you need to tell them: "hey, if we don't have a medic(preferably 2), we're going to lose - that simple". Just like 5 engies on offense is preparing to fail. Play Battlefield General and try to coordinate.

Unless I autoassign it likes to throw me on red alot.
Regardless, It won't happen. People want to play with their friends. It's much more fun.

What will happen when eb0 and his girlfriend break up? Will she still be "eb0's girl"? Or will she take her birth name back? Why does she have to label herself just as a girlfriend, and not an individual?

As far as I can tell, RED does have an atvantage over BLU in most maps. While you're playing notice how a majority of the buildings, rocks, and obstacles are tinted brow or red. The constrast of BLU members makes them easier to see, thus being easy targets. RED blends in, like a camoflauge.
Also, isn't there an Admin control called 'shuffle teams'?

That's mostly on attack/defend maps, where RED have the advantage of being on the defensive anyway.
I've always seen the map win-limit as the balancer for stacked teams. The only problem is when it's a big number, like 4-7 people, who all purposely get on the same team to roll over the maps. I don't see this as much as I have on other servers though, there's quite a few people willing to join the losing team or auto-join. Stacking is just one of those things online games always have to deal with. Forcing auto-select isn't the best of ideas because in a team-based game, people like to play with people they know will work as a team, and shy away from servers that split them up.

Tuna likes to complain about how RED Pyros can "hide" behind walls of flame better than BLU ones. Honestly, it seems more like an excuse than anything else, at least to me.
Also, yes. There is. But there's not always an admin around, and some people just like playing with friends. (For example, I tend to join the same team as Six and G!, who are old college buddies.)

This is why we never shuffle teams. We may encourage/ask people to balance it out or switch teams ourselves, but will not/should not shuffle players around.

I have never and will never shuffle teams, like Timmah said. I have seen the stacking occur and I generally try to join the other team....not that I'm much help...but if its a steamroll the round is generally over pretty quickly.
