My father has Comcast, and honestly it is one of the most solid, dependable ISPs I've ever dealt with. We've had cable internet since Time Warner introduced it in our area around 1998 and it was a pretty reliable service with outtages here and there, and with the Time Warner-Comcast customer switch-aroo around 2004/2005, the service has been even better. I haven't lived at my dad's house full time since 2005 (coming back for 4 months from college for summer/winter break from 2005 to 2006), but when I was there for the entire year in high school, it never went out.

People talk a lot of shit about Comcast without really knowing what's going on. Yeah, they do some lame stuff like throttling BitTorrent traffic, but other than that, it's fantastic. Charter, on the other hand...

My experiences with comcast are crap thats why I hold them in such low regard. We switched from my DSL to comcast the summer between my Junior and Senior years of high school, so 2 years ago. We got everything, cable, phone, and internet. The cable was good, but the phones and the internet sucked ass. The internet went out every few hours, at some times every hour, and the phone sound quality was terrible...So much crackling, even people we were talking to said we sounded like shit. Our DSL never went down...EVER, unless there was a huge storm.

They would come out all the time and try and find out what was wrong, but they couldn't, but I could, they're terrible. And as I think about it more, it was most likely the modom's issue, because our DSL was having problems, but the DSL customer service had us DL something for our modom and we were back in 100% uptime business.

By the end of the summer we were back to our DSL, and I'm a happy DSL customer since like I said, my internet never goes down.

Given that, I speak from experience, that Comcast sucks. And with thier invasive practices now, they are even suckier.

I've had comcast since the 2000 or so, and they've been pretty good to me so far. One annoyances are when I have to call them up to reset the modem on their end. Happens maybe... once every few months? Costs an arm and a leg, and they are a shady business, but you can't been their speed.

In using comcast i have found that it work a shit load better then DSL. dsl is just plain slow sure it works all the time but with a max of 170k/sec it's like driving a geo metro insted of a atom(the car). Most of the time there is a problem it's the cable lines ither from the house or inside the house. If your not using RG6 lines then you might want to try that an i bet you would see a jump in reliability.It works great where i'm at never had a issue sure it drops ever now and then but i know why mine does so if you pay it should be rock solid.....so pretty much check your cable lines and make sure there good before you compline?sp? to comcast lol
