this is a rather disturbing thread, but I feel some humor can become of it, so I'm not deleting it.
1) Go get tested.
2) Don't be a fool, wrap your tool
3) I'm happily STD free
4) 95% of the ppl on here are probably [STD free] as well. Group of computer nerds = virginity

hmm not that i would know, but that might be HPV, which is the most common of all STDs, and which most peoples body will kill off on its own
and keep it wrapped thats the only way to go

Wow dude. I totally would NOT have made this thread. Sorry about you getting an STD though, that sucks.
To answer you question, I have not contracted any STD's and don't plan to ever.

It sucks now a days becuase statistics say 1/4 girls between 13-21 have an STD of some kind. Who wants to go back to medieval times with me for some crazy orgies?
I personally am holding out until I meet that special someone, I wont *^#$*^#$*^#$*^#$ any random slut at a party or anyone I've been in a short relationship with.

hpv is basically warts and yes a lot of people have them don't worry
herpes is little more than a rash don't worry many people have this too
thing about hpv is that it can have bad complications in women
and not many stds have such serious implications as pregnancy, for women specially pregnancy is more risky than any birth control you take plus there's the having a kid part
I think they need to invent a condom that puts itself on when you're drunk or high haha
"Who wants to go back to medieval times with me for some crazy orgies?"
and the bad part about that is there weren't any treatments for std's back then you'd probably die or go blind or something from it, do you know how many people died from stds back in the day haha well not as many as that died from child birth ...children too

No std's here. Only been with the hubby. He's only been with me. But the dr i saw this past week was like "the pill doesnt prevent std's so always use a condom." I was like um lady if you read my chart I'm married and I have been for 3 years.....No std's for me, k thx. On that note!!!! girls shouldnt HAVE to get papsmears if they dont f'ing sleep around!!! all they are testing for is HPV. Every time i go in I'm like um can i opt out, i dont have it. They are like well you never know. HOW WOULD I NOT KNOW!?!? I DONT SLEEP AROUND!!!! IM NOT A WHORE!!!! /rant

Wellll in theory if you are married you should have to do it, becuase generally you only sleep with 1 person eh? :P
Never know though when you might get in contact with animal blood, or someone else's blood, or saliva, or w/e. But then you can just request one instead of them asking you.

they're doctors and plenty of people think and say the same as you because they know that people cheat, so that's prolly why they do the tests, and yes married people cheat too haha so it's better to be safe than sorry
but yes you are at very low risk in a monogamous relationship ... they need a shorter term for that haha like monorelp

Animals don't give you very many diseases. Rabies, ringworm and that's about it. I get animal blood all over me ALL THE TIME. I actually stick myself (accidentally) sometimes with needles that I just pulled out of a dog. Its people blood that is dangerous. But yeah, I should be able to say NO i dont want one, give me my pills and go away, but I can't. Meh

They test you more often looking for cancer. Cause you are like 100% going to get cervical cancer if you have hpv as a woman.

inter species diseases is a whole different story from stds haha
and you can't get an std from saliva contact, well there is an infinitesimally small possibility but that involves huge cuts in your mouth and it carrying enough of the virus or whatever in it so really that's still not the saliva it's the blood in the saliva
anyway, u can get rabies and probably a few other things through animals http://pelotes.jea.com/Stripey.wav
that's a skunk I thought it sounded trippy
There are two primary ways that STDs can be transmitted. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), as well as gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis – the discharge diseases – are transmitted when infected semen or vaginal fluids contact mucosal surfaces (e.g., the male urethra, the vagina or cervix). In contrast, genital ulcer diseases – genital herpes, syphilis, and chancroid – and human papillomavirus(HPV) are primarily transmitted through contact with infected skin or mucosal surfaces.

haha i don't know if that was supposed to be facetious or what but that's not true
there are the main strains of hpv that will give you a likelyhood of getting the cervical cancer and they actually have a vaccine for it but they're mainly giving it to young girls
but there are strains that don't cause it
plus as long as you know you have it they can watch for the cancer

Nah it was a gross exaggeration. Also on the topic of the hpv vaccine, that scares me. A vaccine that is this brand new being forced as one of the required vaccines for school admittance is abhorrent. I would NEVER want to give something this new to my kids (when i have them) Test it to death before it is even considered. I would hate to find 5 years from now that they contract hpv from these new "cervical cancer" vaccines. OBTW that is how the advertise them, they prevent cervical cancer, how misleading is that?!
cykodryver
07-19-2008, 08:18 PM
haha ya that is kinda messed up that they advertise it like that but they probably advertise it like that to cut to the chase because they do prevent cervical cancer through immunization from hpv just that it's not a cure all
and responsible doctors should explain to their patients more in depth about it
although I don't know much about schools requiring the vaccine I think that the schools just have the best interests in mind of the kids just like all the booster shots and immunizations plus the big picture includes just getting rid of hpv and genetal warts that being said because it hasn't been tested thoroughly I don't think they should force anyone to take it but if I could I would take it
It can also prevent anal cancer although right now not many if any men are getting the vaccine probably because it's not as prevalent

Am I the only one who thinks it's really the consumers problem to learn more about a product they wish to use? Sure they advertise it in a way that isn't necessarily truthful, but what company is 100% truthful in adds? Everything is always exaggerated and twisted. Do the research. Take the time to understand how vaccines really work before prejudging them as harmful/helpful.
As for forcing someone to get vaccinated.. If it's known to prevent the infection (with little riskl) then I would agree that people should need to use it. That's probably because I come from a public health care system where peoples silly decisions lead to an increase in taxes to support healthcare. Stupid diseases that should have been wiped out in England are now killing children because their parents believe every little scare story the media creates by misinforming the public about whatever study they've glanced at before the segment aired.
In 1994 the government in Japan decided not to make vaccines manditory anymore because people were scared about the safety. Do you know what's happening in Japan right now? They have an epidemic of measles! 160,000 students in Japan contracted measles this year alone. 88 people actually died a few years ago. Compare that to other countries where vaccination is manditory. Measles has pretty well been wiped out.
Seriously - do the research and get your vaccinations.

well as far as i know HPV is only spread through sexual contact, so making a vaccine mandatory for it really doesnt make much sense. Also theres no HPV test for men as of yet so who knows if you have it or not?

Obviously it wouldn't be an issue if people had a better track record of being faithful. Unfortunately, it's not as rare as it should be to have a woman/man think they're in a monogamous relationship when they actually aren't. Not to mention protection in case of rape. It just seems silly not to have something low risk if it has high benefit.

The reason ppl stopped getting vx (vx is shorthand for vaccines/vaccinate/vaccinations) was because they were preserved using mercury, many ppl (rightfully so imo) think there is a srs problem with purposefully ingesting/injecting mercury into a child's body. Now that they have new, less archaic techniques of preserving the vx there isn't the problem that was proposed. I see a lot of over vx in dogs and cats and could see it being a problem for ppl as well. There is a vx for cats called FIP. Cats are more likely to contract the disease from the vx itself than getting it from their environment. Kinda silly. I am on the fence about flu vx, considering that I am one of the ppl that is supposed to get them. I am just not sure about getting it every year. I have yet to catch it and my uncle gets the vx every year and seems like he gets the flu right after the vx, every year. There have been a number of measles out breaks in America recently as well, I had german measles when I was a kid (i was vx for everything that was available), but never contracted chicken pox. I was vaccinated for pox and was told even though I was vaccinated I would still probably get shingles later in my life, srsly what's the point then????

The amount of mercury in vaccines as a preservative is negligible. There has never been a publication in a journal, medical or otherwise, that has shown that the amount of mercury in vaccines causes any kind of symptoms (beyond those similar to ones in people who were given a placebo).

I'll be honest here and say I find that hard to believe. I agree it would be pointless to vaccinate animals if it were more dangerous. Where did you get that information from? You have to admit it's really important to vaccinate animals. Think of diseases like parvo. How many dogs would we lose to parvo if we just threw vaccinations out the window.

I'm not sure about your own case.. you might be statistical anomaly with regards to the German measles. I know far more people who didn't contract it and were vaccinated. I'm pretty sure the measles outbreak in Japan was not caused by vaccines not working. There would be no reason for the numbers to jump as soon as people stopped using them if it was simply an issue with the vaccine itself. Basically, some people may still catch the disease.. but if your risk of contracting the illness is significantly reduced - I'm not sure what the issue is. As for your uncle.. the flu is often misdiagnosed. Are we sure we're talking about the flu? Catching the flu feels a bit like getting hit by a bus. People who catch the flu end up being out for about a week. No runny noses or congestion. Just a crazy sore throat, fever and a lot of vomitting.

I never said it was a lot nor did I say that I don't plan on vx my kids. I just know that is the reason so many ppl are hesitant.

I work at a vet clinic and the vets them self hate that vx. They never see pt with the disease unless it is from the vx itself. There are a lot of vx that ppl don't for their pets normally. The ones we offer are bordetella (kennel cough), distemper or DHPP (contains: distemper, hiv, parvo, pairinfluenza) , lepto, Giardia, Corona, Lyme, Rabies, and a new one for periodontal disease that I can't spell. Those are for dogs, for cats we have Feline distemper or FVCRP(contains a ton of vx non of which is distemper cause cats don't get it :P) Feline Leukemia, Feline HIV, Giardia, FIP, Rabies. Most of the time ppl will come in and give their pets Distemper and rabies and that is it. Nothing wrong with that, but that's what normal.

Yeah it was funny, at the time I got the measles my brother had the chicken pox, I got the measles the week after his chicken pox started. My mom told me to play with my brother when he had the pox and I was to go no where near him when i had the measles :P Yeah uncle dave gets the vx every year and well i think this is the first year I haven't heard that he got the flu. He is at home in bed, sick when he has it, I certainly am not one to got and try and diagnose him, I don't want it! :P
