View Full Version : Are you obsessive about anything when you play???

I asked this on another forum so I thought that I would post it here as well. I am a fairly obsessive person both in game and out and I was wondering what, if at all, do you obsess about while playing the game? It doesn't have to be anything that you do to improve the way you play.

For me, when I play Demoman, I can't leave the spawn area till I break my bottle. I'll keep hitting it against a wall (or teammate) till it shatters. Then I can leave and keep playing.

When I play spy, I always try to backstab the engie before I sap the sentry (except against ThaiGrocer cause I like the challenge).

When I play sniper in 2Fort, I have to snipe on the right hand side of the battlements or front door (looking towards the bridge). I won't shoot on the left hand side. :character0110:

If there is a grate camping demoman/pyro/soldier in 2Fort, I will always taunt him before I backstab him cause I think they are a waste of digital sperm :sperm: (No offence Dingo).

When I play scout in 2fort and I pick up the flag, I will always run up to the battlements to bonk the snipers before I run the intel across the top of the bridge. :fighting0040:

If Sife is playing for the other team I will always challenge his bottle to my fists....I usually lose but I get a kick out of it. :anim_38:

I always have a glass of iced tea when I play.

I do this exact same thing, but I don't think it ever breaks on a teammate's head. I hate it when I get what is apparently a plastic bottle that takes like a dozen smacks to finally break!

I always switch to my melee weapon and constantly press q to switch between that and my main weapon.

As a spy, I always hide in the same places on a map.

Any time I'm on a map that has a setup time and I'm a Medic, I will immediately switch to my Ubersaw as soon as my Uber meter is full so that I can play at least two to three little ditties on the saw before the gates open. What can I say? I like to entertain my team before they die. ;)

As a Heavy, I will usually hit C>3 (the "Cheers" option) until I hear him say "SO MUCH BLOOD!" and then I will stop...at least until my team loses, at which point I will spam C>4 (the "Jeers" option) until the next round starts. "WHICH ONE OF YOU IS CRYING?!" :D

I'm kind of obsessive about checking the sewer exit in 2fort. I always hope to catch a spy uncloaking or something. Then I do this dance :party0045:. Yeah.

And as a medic, I never stop moving. I guess that's what you're supposed to do, but I'm really obsessive about it as a medic, cuz moving is the only defense medics have besides being blocked by teammates.

The sight of an enemy medic fills me with rage :evilgrin0041: and I will chase his ass down or die tryin. I don't care if his buttbuddy soldier got me afterwards, he still has to go find an alternate source of health and the medic has to start ubering from scratch, I call that a win

Ubering an engineer in a pinch (especially after all his stuff gets destroyed) is friggin' awesome. It's like the ultimate revenge for him to get to go wrench the bastards that destroyed his setup, and then use all the metal from their fallen weapons to rebuild quickly.

If im on Gravel Pit and our team has been pushed back to C point, i will 95% of the time stay on top of C no matter what, because almost always when im not there, we will loose within 2 minutes or so it seems, because nobody ever seems to bother going up there the majority of the time unless someone is capping it, "oh its not being capped, its not like 2 people would bother rocket jumping upt ehre at the same time or a scout could get up there....

And yea in CS:S i generally do random weapon switches for no reason cos i like the noises.

Oh, and i have a thing about always bein reloaded, even if im only missing 2 needles from the needlegun and i am healing a guy taking damage, i will always want to reload just incase those extra 2 come in handy...kinda obsessive about that.

i ALWAYS reload my SMG as sniper even if i shot one bullet out of it

as mentioned above i also have to break my bottle before leaving spawn

i always move back and forth as sniper even when no one is even in sight, i constantly keep moving for no aparent reason

I don't think i'm obsessive about anything. However, when i'm playing as soldier and actually feel like being really competitive and going on one of my rampages, I like to listen to some old Korn in the background..."Blind", "Freak on a Leash", "Got Me Bad", etc.

as a sniper i quickswitch alot, and never let my shots charge, that way you get more points, for more, smaller headshots on the same person.

I'm pretty sure ... you're wrong. A headshot by itself is 1 point, kill or no kill. And like any other class, killing someone is another point - so you get 2 points if you HS kill someone. But this is just for the Valve stats and not HLstatsX.

I believe the only way hlstatsx knows that a headshot is registered is by a headshot kill.

But staying on topic...

As an engy I will never build a gun in the default position. I have to turn it.

If Frodo is on my team, it is a must that we crouch-walk through our whole team during setup time.

Must trash talk any TKO members in the server.

I feel like I have to say something in my mic before each round for some reason. Most of the time just random syllables, "lets do it", or "yeeeeah". Oh! and I have to say something like "Push the f*cking cart" on goldrush even though each person knows exactly what to do.

As a scout I have to do difficult jumps in the map even if it was more beneficial to me to stay put.

Ah, here's one of my tendencies that'll actually help anyone who reads it and plays on my team. As Medic, while I will heal everyone that is within my reach and that won't get me killed, I will usually only become (as Iron Lung put it, I believe) your "buttbuddy" if you're a person that I personally know plays well or if you carry the TKO or .sf| tag in your name; these are the people that I find usually make good use of, and appreciate, my help as Medic. People low on the board with un-tagged names and no reputation with me personally rarely see an Uber from me...kinda snooty of me, I guess, but whatever, it usually works out.

Honestly I still think I'm right Timmah. I'm fairly (~99%) certain that a headshot will only net you an extra point if you kill the player, in which it gives you the point for the kill + a point for the headshot. A non-kill headshot won't give you any points.

http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Points

It's not directly from Valve, but a lot of people put in a lot of effort to get the figures on tf2wiki, and they seem to be pretty much in line with my experience playing as a sniper. Maybe someone else can back me up here?

One headshot = 1 point.
One headshot kill = 2 points.
Heavies are awesome for racking up points. continuous WEAK headshots. gets you points every time, eventually it gets old, and you just kill him.

but yea, just "critical" (headshot) is 1 point, for a sniper.

Whenever I'm spy I always try to sneak into the other teams' spawn(on the ones that have a hiding spot), and watch the death info thing(top right) while waiting for a bunch of them to die. After some time where none of them die, I go in to stab a bunch in the back. Or if there's a mass of them that just died, then go in anyways.
I sometimes try the stab-the-engie first thing, but I've gotten quicker at sapping then stabbing before the second wrench hit, so why bother other than for bragging rights. Either way, as long as you take them out, it works.

As a sniper I do the CSS thing- fire then pull out meh knife, then the rifle again. IDK if it works the same way in TF2 as it does in CSS, but it is/seems quicker than reloading if you can do it fast.

As a demo I always try to find what would seem the most impossible way for my remote nades to reach their base(sg's, tele's, etc.), like above the corner of a roof thats around a corner, or somewhere else(not explaining this well).

For being a scout I just spam-run to the cp, try to figure a way to get in being sneaky. I don't try to kill as much as when I play the other classes.

As for pyroing I try to get behind a bunch of enemies w/o being seen, but not bc I use a backburner.
I try to ignite and ax-ting. them, see how many I can get.

The Spyro's A Pie!

In the pregame setup I have a tendency to move my mouse in a semicircle, giving the appearance that I am bobbing my head.

As a Medic I will usually choose on person to heal and continue healing them until either of us die. I am also guilty of leading people to believe they will get an uber after setup is over due to the fact that I usually begin charging on the nearest person at the beginning of a game.

As a Heavy I will rev up my gun around almost every corner, even if I'm traveling back to my own base. I will also spy check people even if they have demonstrated that they are not spies. When I face off against a sniper, I will duck at random times, hoping they are aiming at my head. If they are, their shot will miss.

As a Spy I will always leave my spawn room as a friendly unit, allowing me to survey the battlefield without alerting my presence to the enemy. Occasionally I will forget to re-disguise, leading to a quick death once I'm in enemy territory. Only time I don't disguise as a friendly is when I am defending the last cap on Badlands, as the entire spawn consists of windows.

As an Engie, my building order is almost always Tele Entrance - Dispenser - Sentry - Upgrade Sentry - Tele Exit.

When in-game, I will sometimes shout random TF2 quotes and people's names. I will also replace "Dispenser" with "Respenser" in any of the Engie quotes that I say aloud, but not for anyone else. I will always shout for a dispenser (X>5) at least once per match. If I die by a crit attack, I will usually yell at my computer about how lucky the person is and how if he didn't crit, he would be dead instead of me. I also have a bad habit of holding down the talk key longer than needed, causing people to sometimes hear me talk to myself. This especially happens after a medic dies before being able to uber me.

Same here, but I'm usually one of the first 3 to pick a team, so that's rarely an issue. But when I first join, if my team doesn't have a medic, I always go medic and question the entire team how they expected to win without a medic.

As a medic after I get my ubercharge I'll usually have about 15 seconds left before the start of the round- I always crack my knuckles during this time.

I also usually refuse to heal idiots that think damage healing charges ubers faster during setup and stand right next to me screaming for a medic when the health locker is 5 ft away...
