Final Fantasy XIII for 360

Final Fantasy XIII was just announced for 360. It will be released at the exact same time on PS3 and 360.

I must say, I'm pretty disappointed... I really hope square didn't waste precious resources porting to the 360... What a huge blow for sony...

while I'm happy that this will make FF 13 more affordable to me, it is pretty sad to see square porting Final Fantasy for the 360

Even though PS3 sales have soon a nice boost this year they are still far short of all the 360's out there. With how expensive games are to make and market these days it just doesn't make sense for studios to make exclusive titles unless the console maker is willing to pay enough to make up for the lost sales. The FF franchise is huge and Square knows there will be plenty of 360 owners willing to shell out the cash.

I don't know if this will expand how much content MS will be able to offer per disk but I saw on G4 today that a coming update will allow users to load portions of their games to their HD to save loading time. I know the PS3 already has something like this but with the 360 I would think it would allow developers to exced the limits of a normal DVD disc with compressed content that could be loaded and then uncompressed on to the HD. Also coming to the 360 is Netflix support for an even bigger library of digital media.

bah i heard about square considering this and was quite expecting them to go through with it, just makes it kind of weird to see that the rpg's totally switched consoles, they were all on ps2 before and ps3 has like...2? now whilst 360 has quite a couple, not all good ones mind you but they have shifted a bit

WTF thats all i have to say.... sony just ruined themselves.... (if they can do that anymore :P) but ....... the only thing that i might think they will do is change the story line a bit. heard rumors of that too. just to keep the main things on th PS

360 doesn't sell very well in japan anyway and I honestly don't think FF13 will sell better on 360 here just because of the different type of gamer for 360. 360 is more multi-player/online oriented players, their biggest market is FPS games. I think it's horribly lame but we'll see what happens when it comes out.

And i read in an interview that content isn't gonna be any different for either, they're both the exact same game. None the less, i will still be purchasing this for PS3. Square seems to be trying to tap into the 360 market lately but I believe they'll soon find out it'll be a lost cause and go back to PS3.

For the record, It isn't Sony's fault that SE decided to make games for 360, SE has never been tied down to one console, they've been making tons of games on DS for years now and they made a few for Gamecube and have a few on Wii already (and more coming out)

and I guess FFXII will not be coming out in Japan for the 360. SE said in an interview that the will be using the 360 to grab the North American market and PS3 to hold the Europe/Asia markets.

FF11 is on PC, FF12 is not. also FF7 and FF8 came out for PC. I think he might mean FFVII not FFXII. Someone needs to re-learn roman numerals :(

Ever since FF7 I've been chasing the dragon and the high has never been as good :X I stopped playing ff12 after putting 56 hours into it and being near completion. I think the way I play games which is get everything you possibly can, and go out of your way for an hour to get some stupid item really burns me out after a while, but i cant help it! :X

I'm the same way. I love getting everything I possibly can... I got screwed in FFXII though, because I only used one set of characters. They ended up being like 20 levels ahead of my other group, and it turns out there's this boss who FREAKING SUCKS. Some kind of spore spewing dragon guy. Well I can't beat him with 1 team... lame...

I'm the same way. I love getting everything I possibly can... I got screwed in FFXII though, because I only used one set of characters. They ended up being like 20 levels ahead of my other group, and it turns out there's this boss who FREAKING SUCKS. Some kind of spore spewing dragon guy. Well I can't beat him with 1 team... lame...
I'm totally OCD when it comes to RPGs. I beat Oblivion once, and a couple months later, I started playing it all over again with the goal of creating the most powerful character ever...and though I screwed up a couple levels where I didn't get +5 for all three skill bonuses, I managed to get and/or create the sweetest armor: I basically had something like absorb magic 50%, reflect magic 50%, and reflect damage 80% (in addition to a really high armor level + good HP). I pretty much didn't need to fight anything anymore - just heal what little damage I took while mobs killed themselves by hitting me. Sadly, that made the game pretty boring and I never bothered to finish all the side quests or the main quest. But I was like, Champion of the Arena the leader of all the guilds. :D

I just hope they don't screw with content because of the DVD limitations on the 360. I could care less about M$ getting FF as long as I still get it on PS3. I guess that's where I'm weird... I don't understand the fanboy'ism... I don't understand why a PS3 user would be happy to have a game that's not available on the 360, and vise-versa.

I do have to say I'm getting irritated at M$ tho... things like paying Harmonix for a timed exclusive on Rock Band 2. Pissed at Harmonix as well for selling out... So F em... not buying RB2 now.
