Great, so it turns out now that I owe extra money to the state of Pennsylvania. After screwing up on my tax return, (thanks H&R Block) I've gotten a notice that indicates that I owe the state of Pennsylvania a total of three (3) dollars.
Plus it's probably late and accruing at a 7% interest rate, a 0.000192 daily rate, so now I owe Pennsylvania an extra five cents.
So I bit the bullet and sent them a check for $3.95, just in case I miscalculated the interest rate. Hopefully this all works out allright. I'll be calling the PA Dept. of Revenue on Monday just to confirm the late fees and payment arrangement. (This isn't actually that bad, from a legal standpoint the worst thing you can do is not filing - I screwed up so they fixed it for me.)

I thought they advertised they'd fix the *^#$*^#$*^#$*^#$up and also give you some cash for *^#$*^#$*^#$*^#$ing it up.
Edit: I hate that filter...why can't it just change *^#$*^#$*^#$*^#$ to bunny instead..that'd be so much funnier

Yeah, I doubt H&R would fix something as measly as $3. Come on, now.

but they should and need to...you have to pay them money to do the taxes for you and they should never screw up........If they do they need to fix it regardless if its $3 or $300

This thread is now about dumb and convoluted tax law.
FUTA...god damn it. If you don't understand how it works, wikipedia it. If you STILL don't understand how it works, essentially I have to pay 6.2% of any employee's gross wage from my business profits. If a worker earns $7000 (which is the cap), I have to pay 6.2% of that, which is $434. That 434 is subtracted from my business profits.
HOWEVER, there's a bylaw stating that whatever you pay in state unemployment tax is subtracted from your federal unemployment tax; a tax credit of sorts. New York SUTA is 5.4% of taxable wages. Therefore, if I paid 5.4%, my federal tax liability is now only .8%. So one time, I paid the 5.4% of the New York state unemployment tax and then I paid the 0.8% as federal unemployment tax.
But of course the IRS hits me with a double whammy. It claimed that I never paid the state unemployment tax (WHICH I DID) and it demanded the extra money for the federal unemployment tax.
IT TOOK ME AN ENTIRE MONTH TO PROVE TO THE IRS THAT I PAID MY TAXES
