Ok I'll throw out my favorite party question. Since we have so many musicians I'm interested to see what everybody comes up with.

So here is the premise. You are starting a band and you can have any artist alive or dead playing any instrument and ego is not a consideration (we will just assume they will all get along:anim_27:) So who is in your dream lineup?

Mine:
Lead Guitar: Have to go with Jimmi Hendrix here but there are soooo many to choose from.

Rhythm Guitar: George Harrison the most underappreciated Beatle IMO

Bass: Bootsy Collins Man I would have loved to hear him and Jimmi jam together.

Drums: Ginger Baker just rock steady

Vocals: Me (lolz) cause its my wet dream isn't it!

Musicians feel free to shred my choices!! :sign0002:

Drums- Neal Peart or Stuart Copeland
Bass/Backing Vocals?- Les Claypool or Linley Marthe
Lead Guitar- Slash or SRV
Rhythm-( if its Slash-Buckethead or Allen Collins, if its SRV-Eric Clapton or Eric Johnson (John Mayer???))
Vocals-Mat Bellamy????
And for some weird backroundy synth maybe Daft punk or the Chemical Bros.
:sign0021:
:anim_27: <--- Epic Rock band 1337 sauce.

hey I say if it's your "dream" it can be whoever including "cartoons" hey somebody plays the guitar on the show so who cares

and if I was making a band I'd put hitler on drums

god on lead guitar cuz I think he'd rock it

jesus can play tambourine

the devil on bass

the geico gecko on vocals

chuck norris as a front man giving out free roundhouse kicks to the face to anyone who wants one

me on the chicago typewriter

and i'd have Mozart, Beethoven, and Wagner come together and come up with a score so amazing you'd cream yourself if you heard just the title

and george washington can chop down a mystical exploding metal cherry tree with a bad ass axe
and instead of wooden teeth he'd have teeth made out of plasma , as in ionized gas(think the sun) not ... one of the other types

Bass - Michael "Flea" Balzary (Red hot Chilli Peppers)
Drums - Lars Ulrich (Metallica)
Keyboard - Janne Wirman (CoB)
Rythm - Dimebag Darrel (Pantera)

sure dimebag is lead but theyre both sick guitarists so it'd work

QFT. I'd take David Grohl over Lars any day of the week.

hes the first one that came to mind, i dont mind his beats but ill be honest i hate drums and fail to think of one drummer that can impress me, im just a metallica fan so i threw him in

that and id switch out dime bag and throw in kerry king from slayer since hes an actual rythm guitarist it'd make more sene that way

Grohl is a better drummer then guitarist. Chris Shiflett on the other hand makes the FF riffs sound way good.

This is a really tough question to answer. For me it depends on what kind of music I would want. Genres aside, here are the best people for their given trade IMHO:

Bass: Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones)
Rhythm Guitar: Robert Fripp (King Crimson)
Lead Guitar: (This is tough!) Jimi Hendrix
Drums: old school Neal Peart (Rush)
Vocals: Maynard James Keenan (Tool)
Keyboards: John Medeski (Medeski Martin and Wood)

for good measure:
Programming: Cevin Key (Skinny Puppy)
Jazz guitar: John Scofield

Guitar - Adam Jones (Tool)
Drums - Danny Carry (Tool)
Bass - Justin Chancellor (Tool)

Oh hell yes... which, by the way, is what we were talking about. A little piece of trivia to go with this: Grohl did the first FooFighters album completely by himself (well, with one minor exception). Anyway, yeah, I've been a Grohl-as-a-drummer fan since I heard Scentless Apprentice and learned that he uses a single bass drum.

Can I use Dave Grohl for every spot? j/k:D

To be honest that was a little bit lazy, more considered list:

Clint Mansell - Composer/Producer
Tom Waits - Songwriter/Singer
Mike Patton - Lead Singer (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle)
Robert Fripp - Lead Guitar (King Crimson)
Adam Jones - Rythm Guitar (Tool)
Les Claypool or Tony Levin - Bass (Primus, King Crimson)
Danny Carey - Drums (Tool)

ooh sryden not bad, some quite good choices there, now thats a cooler list.
im surprised no one has put the guy from Red Hot Chilli Peppers for the Bass part, although i dont listen to them much, he is sick with a bass, freaking kickass.
i woulda put him on my list but it don't rly fit in with the genre of the rest of the band members.
infact i dont think i even put a bassist....whoops

Lead Guitar - Bela Fleck
Other guitar - Matt "Guitar" Murphy (Blues Brothers)
Drums - Dave Weckel (Rush)
More Drums - Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead)
Bass - Victor Wooten (Flecktones)
Vox + Harmonica - John Popper (Blues Traveler)
Keys - Keith Emerson (ELP)
And the hornline from Chicago

That band would make some sweet tunes unlike any you've ever heard before.
