I've had this coversation with several of my gaming friends and it's always funny or suprising to hear the answer. What is your longest gameplay session on a single game?

My longest non-stop playing time for a single game (I did stop for bathroom breaks and to grab caffine and snacks to keep going) was a little over 9 hours on GTA San Andreas (PS2). I only stopped because I couldn't feel my thumbs anymore. I'm sure that's pretty weak compared to some players out there, but we've all had those game sessions where we lose track of time. TF2 has had me saying "Is it really 1:30 in the morning?", or lying to my wife about what time I actually made it to bed.

1. Around 32 hours (including bathroom breaks, a large case of dark chocolate and a whole case of snapple apple) - Star Wars Galaxies, during the launch days.

2. Around 28 hours (including bathroom breaks and random snacks and drinks) - Anarchy Online.

3. Around 24 hours (including the obvious, as stated above) - Age of Empires 2

4. Around 20 hours (including etc) - Civilization

5. Around 16 hours (just bathroom break) - Counterstrike 1.5

6. Around 12 hours (no break) - Counterstrike 1.6

7. Around 10 hours (no break) - CS:Source

8. Around 6 hours (no break) - Age of Conan

Currently: CS:Source and other randome games - around 1-2 hours.

Been there with all the God of War games - including the Chains of Olympus free download from the Sony Store. God of War 3 is definitely one of the games that would be on my PS3 (when I get one) wishlist.

i would say close to 48 hours playing EverQuest.
i played EQ from the Beta to 5 years after the release.
most of the time i averaged 12+ hours a day playing.

it was a fulltime job, and i got paid to play too. i had 5 accts i would play simultancously to farm and kill and farm some more.

selling items and platinum online. it wasnt what i would call reliable income, but for while it paid rent and bills. its amazing what stupid people with too much cash will pay for.

Ugh

Talk about boring personalities, dull plot, and dry character depth...

The Sniper has more character depth than Lloyd ffs. Lloyd's just those "least-likely-to-save-the-world-but-does-it-anyway" and "annoying-hero" archetypes.

....fun game though, LOL. I liked the combat.

probably a tie between cs and gta vc. I never played any game as much as GTA VC. it was an awesome game.

My record is from noon saturday to 8 AM sunday at a lan party all nighter.

A majority of the day was CS and DoD, and then during the night it was off and on between BF1942, CS, and DoD.

If I had any concept of time while gaming, I could tell you. Sadly, I don't. I'm pretty sure I've gone 8+ hours in the past on CS:S, but family life takes priority now.

I'll second that Timmah. It's definitely harder since I got married. Got a 5 yearold and another on the way. But I'll always try to make time to play. And probably have to keep hearing my wifey say stuff about how late I played. Nice Demo work last night ya jumpy maniac. Curse you and your damn grenades.

Lol. I noticed I got you quite a bit - sorry man! :D Who was it that said "it's official... Timmah hacks"? - I forget. I got a good chuckle out of that - I can't ask for a better compliment than that. But I know whatcha mean about the jumping - that's pretty much my technique for any class: don't stop moving.

Gee, I employ the exact opposite stlye. I find it much easier to help people with their point totals if I don"t move around too much. Although I did find it to be a lot of fun barreling down a hallway in Fastlane as a Pyro right at a sniper. I couldn't figure out why he never shot me. It was a long run to be in someones sights. :cool0010::fighting0021: I died right after I torched him, but it was worth it to just see if I could do it.

back in my high school days i used to play cs 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5 like mad. mostly competitively.

anywho, since i was so addicted to it, sometime sophomore --> junior year, summer 01' we had a LAN gathering at a friends house that went from friday to sunday of pure, straight counter strike 1.2

that being said, it was the most amount of time gaming i've ever spent consecutively.

8 hours straight, no bathroom, no food.

36 hours straight including bathroom and food breaks.

I've been playing games for many years now mostly by myself.
I grew up without any gamer friends in the 80s and 90s so I'm no stranger to marathon sessions. I've played at least 10 hours straight of the following games.

StarTropics
Super Mario World
Chronotrigger
007 Goldeneye
Mario Kart 64
TF2
Civ 4
Red Alert 2
Metal Gear Solid 2
Battlefield 2
Worms

The grand champion marathon game was a 3 way match of MOO3 (Master of Orion 3). Two friends and I played MOO for about 18 hours straight. Now here's the kicker. My two buds had played MOO before where as I had never played it. So after the 18 hour session I still had no idea what I was doing. MOO makes no sense.

I've noticed that a lot of you drink energy drinks to keep going. Well I can tell you that I never touch the stuff.

I hear that. Here's some games I've played 8 hours + on:

River City Ransom (NES)
X-COM Ufo Defense (PC)
Diablo 1 and 2 (PC)
Willy Beamish (Sega CD)
Super Mario 64

There are probably more and I agree with Timmah....I have no sense of time while playing. Back then...If I saw daylight starting to shine through the window, I was like "shit..." But here lately.....work and getting older keep me from playing more than a few hours anymore.

12 hours RTCW
6 Hours CSS

With breaks of course

Sryden..,.

StarCraft - 16 hours. Stupid game to do this with too, you totally lose motor control/concentration after a few hours of it.

I'm sure I've put in close to that on Diablo 1&2, CS:S, and possibly Ninja Gaiden.

Final Fantasy 10 58 hours consecutive
thats with 100% completion including a 100% sphere grid for every character
Same goes for Final Fantasy 12
2 four packs of monster energy drinks and an ounce are usually my modus operandi when marathon gaming with rpgs.

Pretty sure I did at least one 24 hr session on wow

after that.. I've done 20 hours of tf2 at a stretch.

wow you guys are all insane marathon gamers....makes me feel small fry in comparison.

8 1/2 hour GTA San Andreas.
Various up-to 7 hour runs on these games -
WoW
Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne
TF2
CS:S - last night must have been 5-6 hours on there.
SSBB
Best i could do in one session for GH3 was 4 1/2 hours then my fingers hurt and i was getting frustrated that i was sucking.

but yea i can do 8 hour gaming sessions with no food/drink/breaks easy.
