This morning on the 24/7 2fort server, we had some guy named Moz [STEAM_0:0:6136736] exploiting the Flare Gun, by shooting it into shelves repeatedly, causing the server to hiccup. Could we submit his ID to steambans?

Yes this guy was causing the server to lag, and was just a general douche.
Wasnt playing just doing stuff to grief everyone being a heavy punching all of his snipers etc.

Next time please provide a screenshot and post in the game bans area.

Ok, Ill take a pic next time. Wasnt sure if it was really a bannable type thing it isnt really an exploit, but this is about 4th time Ive been on 2Fort that the server needed to be rebooted cause of it.
But if we are kicking people out for douchey behavior I better be careful or Ill get boot too :fighting0092:

i kicked a couple of the flare people yesterday..and restarted the map ..adn it was all good ......

I know what they are talking about. I saw ss of people doing it on another server. Im glad that it has taken this long for someone to do on our servers. Its nasty :(

Is this just causing client-side fps lag or actual server-side lag?

There are more entities that the server has to account for thus it affects both client side FPS to render the flares, and server side.
Thus if it ruins game play for people it must be dealt with.

i warned him before i restarted the map..and my exploiter didnt do it again..but ....again today there was a civilian spy ..and heavy..same guy, he was warned ..and stopped

Yeah it causes server side lag, the server is trying to constantly figure out where those flares are supposed to be flying too....
It just sucked big time last nite cause it happened so late. Hopefully valve will fix that soon cause its a real asshat thing to do.
It was funny too cause I was talking with Jeffito about it before it started causing the server to lag.
Hes like it doesnt seem to be doing anything to me then about 10 more mins of flares and we all were feeling it.

He was mic spamming, a map or two I don't know, I muted him. He was also doing the flare gun exploit for a few maps until Red came in and kicked another guy who was following suit at which time he turned tail and ran.

Just a note we did warn him about the exploit and then when he started to mic spam warned him about that as well. though admittedly it became yelling at him trying to make him shut up rather soon.

Ah, now I understand exactly why my games of TF2 as of late have been getting royally screwed up. Thought it was just all the Pyros oot and aboot -- never really expected those flares to be causing this. Keep up the good work and get rid of these arses whenever you see'em.

The update that came out today should have fixed this flare gun exploit:

As Alvari pointed out, Valve patched it, so it shouldn't be an issue anymore. Also, Jokerz had installed a plugin to stop it the day before. I presume he has or will remove it since it's no longer needed.
