hmmm, well i gave up WoW about 2 months ago as i found it completely pointless and time consuming, much to the sadness of my friends (IRL friends before you say damnit!)

aaand anyways..today my friend George phones me up asking why the f**k i was on WoW allday when i supposedly cancelled, and i was like "WTF george i've been at college open day since 7am.." soo, i log in, and my account is active again, and when i log in i get dc'd almost instantly, meaning someone else is logging in and kicking me off the acc, i try again, this goes on for about 2 minutes while i try and change the password, but he changes it first, i try and retrieve password via email, email is changed on account.

This means a hacker has taken my wow username and password, changed the password, confirmed the password change, changed the email on the account, and restarted my account subscription...

so im just posting this incase my steam account goes all 'LEOftw' on me, so that you guys know, im trying to get this sorted as quickly as possible, im suspecting a keylogger..although i havent downloaded anything apart from music in weeks...

Did you buy it via a store or online(just the serial that is)?

Contact them, I'm sure they can figure it out if you bought it online.
IDK about WoW, but if there's a serial on the box, perhaps they do what Valve does- send a pic in of the serials and cd's, your drivers license, etc. to prove your you and that you own it.
I'd think they could reset the account.

well, i've sent them stuff like the cd keys, last 4 digits of the credit card, name, postcode, address and stuff so they should be able to reset the account back to me, but yea i scanned with like 2 different virus scanners and various other things and they found nothing so if it aint a keylogger how the f**k did they get my account and change the password/email?!?!
i bought the box in a store btw.

lol hooligan ur so kind :)

sure you didn't fall victim to a phishing scam? Some of them have gotten pretty sophisticated in the past couple years and use an SSL proxy so everything *looks* completely legit. Or maybe your password is just easy to guess? On average, WoW accounts sell for MUCH more than credit card #s on the black market - that's a fact.

did you quit WoW because you remembered you like women?

that and i realised i had better things to do yes.
and im pretty sure i didnt fall victim to a phishing scam thing or anything, i'm usually quite paranoid about that kinda stuff... and my password was definately NOT an easy guess... it was basically my first name plus about 10 random numbers and letters, so yea... aanyways the GM's should get my account restored so that i can sell it any day now...woot.

mmmm, yea, its like i started because a friend recommended it to me, then i discovered the social aspect of the game, chatted at least half the time i was online, kinda thought the game was boring, ppl said "oh it gets rly fun once you hit 60+...so to 60 i reached, omg! fun! then....66....boring as shite....social aspect down the crapper, just "come to XYZ instance, we need mage." or "ffs ur late" or "gold pls."... aaand i couldnt be assed to hit 70...so...i let my account run out, decided tf2 and SF is more than enough to occupy my time with. and a damn fine decision i think i made.
