First let me say I have nothing against the PS3 accept it's price combined with a lack of games...which is getting better. But as a 360 owner I have had to read one article after another putting MS down for their losses due to their hardware issues. Well looks like Sony has having trouble losing money also due to their hardware costing too damn much.

MS's hardware issues have been addressed and their 65nm chips make the new systems cheaper to build AND fix the over-heating issues. Looks like Sony needs to step it up with some more big titles to recoup all those billions of dollars.

Sony is known for packing top notch hardware into their consoles and losing money on them, which they eventually regain through game sales. This happened with the PS2, which is pretty much considered one of the most successful consoles of all time.

and you call it a poor excuse for a blu-ray player? It's actually by far the most versatile blu-ray player out there at an amazing price. Titles are starting to come out in Blu-ray 2.0, which requires an internet connection to pull data about the movie from the internet. If you previously purchased a Blu-ray 1.0 or 1.1 player, you'll have to purchase a new 2.0 player to get the full experience of Blu-ray 2.0. With the PS3, you simply download the latest firmware update and you're set.

You for whatever reason put down Metal Gear Solid 4, which is an incredible game (I know many can attest to it's awesomeness on these forums). Have you ever played it? Kojima actualled used the entire 55GB of the disk by keeping compression to a minimum. It's amazing how games are even still coming out on the 360s 8GB cap.

I'm not trying to down the 360. I think it's a great console. But the PS3 is way more than an "overpriced over heating excuse for a blu ray player". With the new 2.40 firmware update that will be arriving shortly, PS3 will have in game XMB and achievements as well (for free, might I add).

Most every console that comes out loses money on hardware, they always make it up in game sales. Microsoft, Sony AND Nintendo, so it's not really any big news. I don't have a preference for system, i don't consider myself a sony fanboy. I own all but a 360 but my roomate owns a 360, I bought a PS3 for blu-ray and the titles on the PS3 interest me more. Sony took a hit putting Blu-Ray in the PS3, but a big reason they won the HD-DVD - Blu-ray war is exactly because of that, so it'll pay off pretty quickly when HD Movies catch on more.

Halo sucks, always has, always will (and yes i have played all of them, my roommate loves it) and honestly, that is all the 360 has going for it as far as an exclusive (that and gears of war) and those will all come to PC eventually (GoW already did, and it even has more missions than 360), which makes it ultimately better. FPS sucks on all consoles, 360, PS3, PSP, PS2...everything! Except maybe Wii cause IR Sensor is ftw(metroid prime 3 anyone?).


Bottom line: No Console is worse than the other, they all have different things to offer and it's just personal preference, why do you feel the need to poke fun at every chance you get? You're more of a fan boy than I am, it's sad, really.

I own both... but I side with Sony. I just don't like how M$ nickles and dimes you for EVERYTHING. I mean FFS, wanting to charge me for a new avatar or theme... come on that's ghey.

well the blue ray reader MAY be versatile ill give it that but it doesnt have the exact same quality as say, a blue ray reader you would buy seperatly. consider this, a blue ray reader cost more than a ps3, the ps3 can read blu ray's AND play games and do other stuff, so technically they cut something off somewhere. and besides so little people are actually equipped to watch blu ray movies i dont really consider it a selling point anymore, if you've ever watched a blu ray disc on a rather small hdtv, you'll notice that each computer animated special effect becomes disturbingly obvious when they show up. i use XXX as my example the scene where he snowboards away from an avalance, i wa sliterally able to tell each part that they had filmed an avalanche and which part they had animated becaus it had stuck out so bad.


anyway i dont really have a beef against MGS 4 i just found that review hilarious, and i am also not a fan of "movie games"


as for the over heating i beg to differ i have many customers bringing me back ps3's these day that stop working due to overheating (mainly 40g) the 80g's i have less problems with so maybe its just my store but it does seem to have its share of problems, AS did the 360 before but since the elite came out i rarely see one come back (new hardware = fixed red ring)

ah that i didnt know, but i watched it on a smaller tv a 32 inch if im not mistaken, i thought the size of the tv would have made a bigger difference tbh, watching it on a 50+ inch ill whole heartedly agree that it looks way better, while on a <40inch i hear it doesnt look as good

As long as it still does 1080p. From what I've heard, though, it's hard to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p/or/1080i on a screen smaller than 42" just because 720p/1080i looks great on smaller screens already.

you need at least 50 inches to notice a change from 720p to 1080p. And XXX is the worst movie ever made let alone the worst movie on blu-ray. If anything it is BECAUSE of the hi-def that you could see all the shitty CGI that movie had to offer. Go watch Planet Earth or Ratatoullie, both absolutely fantastic in terms of picture quality. I heard that Men In Black actually transferred to blu-ray really well also. If anyone hasn't checked it out, go watch Sunshine on blu-ray, that movie is not only really good but so beautiful when watching it in hi-def.

All I know is i have yet to have an overheating problem, I have an old 60gb as well. People are probably dumb and shove them in a cramped, carpetted space and don't let any air get out of the sides.

TV makes a huge difference in hi-def, where do you work? Unless it's a high end electronics store, I'm willing to bet good money that the display TVs are cheap and garbage. 90% of Best Buy's televisions are low to mid range TVs and way over priced.

If you want a violent game for wii, go look into Madworld, it's a new game Capcom is developing for Wii. It's lol awesome and bloody :D

what got cancelled? FF7? Square-Enix never even announced they were developing it, they had that short Tech Demo but that was all it was, a Tech Demo. There is and never was anything ever stating that FF7 was in development, Square even shot down that rumor a while ago.

$50 a year is more then worth it as it helps fund the massive amount of content that XBL provides. Everyone is stealing Achievements from XBL and now people want to say "Well we willll have achievements now, so we're better" how does that work? Some people think achievements are dumb, and many of them are, but MS has seen the Achievements motivate people to play more and that's good for business. Sony offering on-line game play for free is just a marketing tool, and they need all the help the can get right now. I'm sure Sony will find a way to come out a head in the end put right now they are struggling in a Console market they dominated for a long time.

As I said before, I want a PS3, but besides MGS4 I can play every game I want on either my 360 or PC, both of which I have had since before the PS3 was out. Sony On-Line may be free but XBL has a lot more players which makes a difference when playing on-line games. I'll pay my yearly fee if it means I have a larger on-line community to play with.

Do you even own a PS3 Jmaster? how would you know if the online community sucks? Xbox has been around for longer and has had time to build a base and PS3 will eventually catch on and grow, there's a ton of people that play Warhawk, one of the most fun multiplayer games i've ever played

I have a 360 and I enjoy it but honestly I'm always on the computer. My kids play the 360 quite a bit, but there aren't that many games for a 9 yr old and a 5yr old. I would love to have the PS3 but its cost make that impossible at this point. Besides if I were gonna buy another console, my kids will lynch me if it wasn't a Wii.

well... development of the final fantasy vii remake stopped in nov of 2007. All staff started working on FF XIII and FF XIII:V so they can get that done in a reasonalbe amont of time. but still come on, ff xiii is going to be awesome. it is almost a fps :/ still third person.

First of all, don't use the Wii-Remote as an example with the big lawsuit pending against Nintendo. They stole the entire thing from someone else and they will have to pay for it.
