They think it's a hardware failure. IRS admins, don't worry. Your server will be the first one we're putting on the new box.

And all of our subscribers will be getting a free month.

Holy crap. ~18 hours later they think it's a hardware failure? Where I work, if we had a customer-facing server down this long and only an inkling that it was a hardware failure - well, as the British would say, those responsible for the sacking would be sacked by now! A well-run datacenter would have everything virtualized, stored on a fault-tolerant SAN/NAS; and move the zone to a working server within an hour.

E - since we are, in fact, sacking ArtOfWarCentral, I'd like to opt-out of the free month. We all know it's not SF's fault and have had 2 other servers to play on. Obviously the new server isn't free and I'm happy to contribute.

Ur stealing my new business plan: virtualized business continuity hosting, we host images of your machines with knife-switch failover to load balancing. Hosted on a Tier 1 internet connection in a Tier 4 datacenter.
