I won't be playing TF2 this weekend (at least not until Sunday night)...I'm posting this msg with my Palm Treo from beautiful Fort McCoy, WI. I just wanted to share that I just qualified on the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), hitting 10/11 targets. 9 is 'Expert'. Because I'm such a geek, I couldn't resist shouting "Crisomor!" several times. Unfortunately the PDA won't let me post the picture I got, but I'll post it later :)

I was the Squads Grenadier when I was in the infantry... Now thats a fun toy when shooting off Parachute Flares or HEDP Rounds... KABOOM!

oh, and I normally got 37-38/40 when qualifing with the m4 carbine

Alright, first to answer Ganwen's mockery ;-) from this forum and in-game last night (now that I'm not trying to pwn his team).

Yes, the M249 isn't exactly a "heavy" weapon. Yes, it only fires 5.56mm rounds (basically a long .22) just like the M-16 or M-4. I was drawing the similarity that it's fully automatic, like the "heavy". It's also the heavy weapon in CSS. It just happened to be what I qualified with on Friday. And I was pretty proud of getting expert since it was pouring rain all day and only 5 out of 26 people that shot that day actually qualified (n00bs!), and the only one to shoot expert. These idiots left the feed-tray covers open inbetween firing orders, so mine and everyone else's weapon jammed pretty often - but I got a couple one-shot kills. Not bad for 400 to 800 meter targets.

On Saturday, I guess I was more of a demoman 'cuz I shot the MK19 (belt-fed 40mm grenade launcher) and qual'd expert on that too - though they never told me the exact number of hits/targets. Not sure if I ever hit the 800m type E (man-sized) popup target. But I did make the 400m vehicle-sized target my little bitch. :) Does that make you happy Ganwen? Heavy enough weapon for ya? :p

Oh, and as I was saying - I was originally a 13E/13D (Fire Direction for Artillery (M109A6 Paladin unit [155mm] - C Btry, 1-126th FA) prior to my deployment, but we went over as more of an MP unit. For the pre-mob training, I was the M2 ("Ma Deuce", the .50 cal) gunner. Ironically, I was also our squad's designated marksman. I typically qualify with the M-16 hitting 36-39/40, too (we're not cool enough to get M-4s yet). Don't think I've ever shot less than sharpshooter. Never got the elusive 40/40, though. :(

Cold and wet, yes. As I said... Fort McCoy, WI. It was like 40F with rain (and it snowed later that night).

I'm in a 25B slot now, but overslotted and I don't feel like going to 4 months of training for it, so I'm transferring to a nearby MLRS unit (that's going to HIMARS soon), where I can get MOS Q'd in <week since it's basically my old MOS (13D) with a Y designator. I think. Either way, I miss blowing s**t up.

hrmm, i just noticed that my last post got cut off somehow. The part that's missing is where I say I hate being in a total POG unit and want to go back into combat arms.

Say... I remember reading in Stars&Stripes that the 101st had some major ghey sex ring going on. Know anything about that? :-p
