TF2 does not save anything done in OPTIONS

When I change things in the options, it does not save them to the config.cfg. The message is EXEC: Couldn't execute userconfig.cfg. I admit I haven't looked extensively yet, but my initial searches almost all pull up CSS. I also cannot change my name in the game, either in the console or the Multiplayer options.

Thoughts anyone?

to change your name in tf2, hit shift+tab, go to settings, and change it there.

As for your other settings, make sure your config files are not read only.
