Trophies for Tournies, Prizes for Give-aways

Its been discussed in another thread here, but I really want to know if I'm the only one who thinks this is a better alternative for the current system, as much as people should get rewarded for their skill in a tournament, its usually (90% of the time) people with high end computers already that win the tournaments, and they just ebay/trade off the parts for random stuff, when someone in that room could have used it badly.

So I'm going to start a poll, just to see if I'm the only one who thinks it'd be much better if Trophies (or some sort of bragging right) would be better than Cards for prizes, and more random give-aways/raffles would happen during the night.

Btw, back at Psychoward, we basically killed eachother for those trophies, if someone could get ahold of ol' Scalliwag, I'm sure if we could find out how he made those, people would be beating the hell out of eachother for a chance at em ;)

this idea is dumb, explain to me how you can sell a trophy off for crack????

I mean sure a trophy is a good place to store your crack but when push comes to shove you need something with a fair market value.

Even if it's not for crack cash I want to win something with value, I don't need a trophy to make me feel good.

I would say no, they did both they handed out neat stuff at random and as prizes for winning tourneys. High end computers can always be better so if you win something you don't need you can sell or trade it for something you do. Or you can just take the cash. People who win those parts did pay the cost of getting there and staying out there so if they can make their money back and have a little extra why not? If you're that worried about not getting a card because you can't win then get better.


Edit: Maybe you should have entered a tournament.

I'm kinda 50/50 on this one.

While I absolutely loved winning trophies at PsychoWard (I still have all 3 trophies and BF1942 medal displayed in my Dining Room), winning a nice prize like a video card or motherboard really is an amazing reward for putting in all of the needed time to practice and learn the maps. It's kinda like dropping a $100.00 bill down on the table in Las Vegas and walking away with double, triple (or more) money than what you spent if you play your cards right. There's a risk and a reward.

So again... I'm really 50/50... but thankfully I'll never have to worry about winning either at Stompfest since I'm ineligible as Staff.

WTF Sean, there's more than cards in Vegas! Playing my cards right at the slot machine wouldn't help me much, would it? :D

But I keep my trophies and lanyards I get from events on display, myself. I've won enough crap from LANs over the time. That stuff came and went. The trophies and whatnot are still here though. I miss the GigaFyte/Psychoward days :(
