Well, today I turned on my computer after being off for the night and it got stuck at the bios screen, (odd) so I pulled the plug and restarted the computer.

It went past the bios screen the second time and afterwards my monitor decided to go from the active green button to the idleing yellow/orange. Now, I plugged my GFs monitor into my video card to see if my card was on the fritz, no problems. Replugged my monitor back in and its still blank.

The damn thing was working fine last night, and today when I first turned it on, now it will only go green for about 5sec and then go back to the orange idle.

ANY IDEAS?!?!?! I dont want to have to bye another LCD. Im pushed for money enough as it is.

So for now I have my old computer plugged in next to my new one... a big fuggly CRT monitor which hurts my eyes now after being used to LCD all that time..

Please help!!

if it is a dell like i think it is, the orage means that the monitor thinks that there is no image going to it, or that the monitor is idle. Duno why, only thing i could think of is if you have differnt imputs maybe it got switched to vga or s-vid, but that should make the power turn orange. Sorry...Dell monitors have a 3 year warrenty if purchased on their own :P

Now plug your monitor in your GFs computer and see what happens, maybe your card still. if not you have at least eliminated that possibility!

UPDATE!

Well, working on it ...my GFs monitor is Analog but her video card is DVI. Right now im actually using MY monitor with her AVI cables *monitor has DVI and AVI slots* it seems my video card "forgot" that I use a digital cable, its only showing Analog. So right now Im going to reupdate my drivers, Im currently using NVIDIA 7950 GT. If that doesnt work, Im going to remove the video card and boot up with the built in card and see what I can do from there, hopefully somewhere Ill get this thing back to recognizing a digital input.

The card im using atm

Well, found the problem finally.

My video card isnt recognizing a Digital interface but WILL register an Analog connection.

Reinstalled Drivers, nada..
Going to unplug the video card and reinsert tomorrow after school, if that doesnt work, im just going to go buy an AVI Cable with a DVI converter, because that works...

Also noticed a DVI to HDMI converter.... I wouldnt mind playing some TF2 on my 47in 1080p TV :) *course itll be downscaled ect ect*

My buddies has one of his machines hooked up to his TV and we have estimated that it has a latency of 30ms. That may not sound like a lot, but when the delay is between moving your hand and it responding on screen that is horrific. I would not be caught dead playing TF2 on an HDTV unless it has a gaming bypass mode (which many new TVs do).

Response times differ on TVs due to the processing engine. A Bravia is 8 ms panel response, while a Aquos is 4 ms. All depends on the TV.
