I myself have been an avid bass player for 4 years now. I play a Mexican made Fender J Bass. My stack is a Mark bass mini stack and a moded Crate practice amp with a 10 or 12 inch audiobahn subwoofer. :D And i have a random assortment of distortion peddles .

Not the best picture but they are both Limited Edition Epiphone Les Pauls. The guitar is a 7 string set neck and the bass is a 5 string set neck. Both serials are under 50,000. I paid $250 a piece for them and can easily resell individually for twice that. As a pair I really couldn't say how much they are worth. I have been playing guitar for a little over 10 years and i dabble in bass, keys, programming, and recording. I've also worked as a guitar tech for about 5 years. Went all over the midwest. It was pretty neat.

p.s.
I'm godawful at Guitar Hero.

I play an 8-string bass and can do the keyboard with my left had only. I need the other hand to satisfy myself because I love synth so much.

My Lachesis mouse has a ....

satisfying texture.

stratocaster: ol' faithful
68' original goldtop: deathbed present from my father who since then recovered but gave it to me anyways. we often play, he using his ol' guitar and i'll grab the caster.

played for 10 years, haven't really picked it up in the last year or so

i used to be terrible at guitar hero, but alike every other video game; the more you practice the better you get. --> it's not anything like playing the real thing. it's hitting buttons, not playing riffs

edit: actually i remember i had an old harmony guitar that i got as a christmas present when I was like 8... not sure what i did with it

I've been playing for 17 years. Played bass mostly in college b/c every asshat had a guitar and I wanted a band. Peavey Megabass head with 1820 cabinet and Ibanez Soundgear SR500. After that I was pretty much free to go back to guitar. Ibanez Artist, RG550, and a seven string are what I dabble on mostly. Picked up a Marshall JCM 900 and 4 x 10 cabinet for my 30th birthday. Also got the Digitech GNX4 and most of my time is spent plugged into that. Living in Nashville I got involved in Bluegrass and I got a Martin D-28 for that (nice to have a job to be able to get that one - by far my most expensive - and I picked it up at legendary Gruhn's Guitars). I also am really into Bossa Nova and have a Garcia nylon string for that. Went to Brasil last year and picked up these great songbooks. I dabble with keyboards and recording, but don't really put a lot into it.

That being said, Nashville is a hella annoying town if you want to do something casually. Everyone wants to 'make it' or is piss poor and doesn't have reliable equipment. Used to jam with a dude where we'd have to quit every 15 minutes so he could solder something on his amp. Also, I'm not up for playing on a Wednesday night at 2 AM, I gotta go to work weekdays. Thus, most of my group playing is done at lunchtime at work with my bluegrass band.

If you're the least bit serious or want to break out of only playing tabs from the internet, Fretboard Logic is required reading. Once I digested that the fretboard became a lot clearer.

Rock Band/Guitar Hero is bizarre to me, I just can't make the transition. A lot of my solo work involves string bending and since there's no representation I'm at a loss of what to do. I find myself playing the actual fingerings instead of what's on screen too. A lot of my friends have tried to get me to play but I just embarrass myself. I don't mind though, I've read interviews where Slash says he has the same problems.

A lot of real guitarists have problems with GH/RB. Oddly enough tho.. I've heard that real drummers pretty much destroy rockband on expert.

drum skills do transfer pretty well. i used to play drums a few years ago and now i'm the only one in my hall that can play drums in RB on hard or expert. my buddy who still plays destroys it on expert though ><

I used to REALLY want one of those, but I tried one out and the neck turned out to be too wide for my tastes. I never did try the 4 string model to see if it fit any better, but at the time I was really wanting a 5 string. I got used to the Ibanez Soundgear neck - waaaaaay thin, too thin actually - mine got bent and cost me a small fortune to correct :(. Long story longer, I restrung with a low B and without the top G.

Remember kids, if you're not practicing to music, with a drummer, or with a metronome, you're not practicing.

That dean looks like a monster baby of an sg and a flying v. If you want something with a metal sound that looks pleasing i give you the Herman Ree signature http://www.ibanez.com/eg/series.aspx?s=EGEN :D It is oh so dragonforcey. :)

I have been playing guitar in one way or another since 1986. I would consider myself a bass player primarily, but I also play guitar and some keyboard.

This is sort of what my current bass looks like
http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/guitarshopnet_2005_106957631

I also have a jackson electric guitar and a Martin Dreadnought acoustic.

When my wife lets me spend a few thousand dollars, I would like to get a guitar like this guy (Trey Gunn). The manufacturer is Warr guitar, which is similar to a Chapman Stick. They have many different configurations that you can get. 8, 10, or 12 strings. You can also have one or both sides come with 'midi' pickups. I think you need to have a Roland box to convert the signals to midi.

I started on an electric pos about 7 or so years ago. Got an acoustic and have been playing that mostly for about 5 years now. I think I made the transition when I realized I'd never be in a rock band. I can still rage on the acoustic when I want, and its nice to just be able to pick it up and play.

Nothing serious. Just another thing I wanted to dominate. Someday...

I've had a guitar for 7 years now...been playing for maybe 4. Haven't had much time until recently so I've been picking it up again. I have a schecter hollow body guitar...sounds great and plays very well
http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/6/2/7/392627.jpg

I've really wanted to start lessons again and learn some guitar theory, so I can relearn everything I've taught myself.

I consider myself to be an ok guitar player but agree with whoever says that real guitar players can't play GH/RB. I had to sell mine because it was pissing me off too much.
