Q&A from Blizzard
A Q&A About the Zerg!
An public Q&A was conducted at the press conference in Korea today. Some big mysteries were revealed and some are yet to be seen.
Q: How far in development is SC2? And how much of it will be included in the final version?
A: Nothing's for certain. It took us such a long time because we were developing other games. Because of our perfectionism we can't say for sure when SC2 will be released.
Q: There's no Kerrigan in the video. Is the Queen Kerrigan? If not, how is Kerrigan represented? Also the Roach looks like a... roach. People called Paladins from WoW Roaches so is that the reason?
A: The Roach has nothing to do with the Paladin. Kerrigan is a unique unit and will only be playable in the single-player campaign.
Q: How many Starcraft 1 developers are involved in SC2 right now? I heard some developers of C&C were brought over and therefore was not a real sequel to SC1.
A: There are about 12 original developers. It also sticks to the original and is therefore a sequel! We've worked hard to make this a fun game and tried to satisfy picky players on multiplayer.
Q: I heard SC2 uses a new graphics engine. Can you tell us the specifics?
A: I’m not a graphics expert, but I can tell you we have several advanced graphics techniques being used.
Q: The Zerg scenario ended with the Protoss attacking, but the Terran were conquered for the Protoss assault. Is the sequel loyal to the original storyline? The Queen seems to be used like a hero. Do we have to tech to use it?
A: The storyline is still under development. We can’t give you any details on it yet. The Queen is usable from the beginning and is specialized towards defense. More to come later.
Q: In WWI the Mothership was a super unit and was changed to a normal unit in Blizzcon. Queen has become a superunit so what’s become of the Mothership? Do terrans have a superunit as well? The graphics look great and the system requirements look pretty steep.
A: We can’t tell you anything for certain in the game right now. The Queen’s not really a superunit but really a specialized unit. It’s weak when not defended! It’s not a hero. The sys reqs are low enough so many more users can play. A graphics card with Pixel Shader 2.0 is required.
Q: You said the development process takes a long time but Activision Blizzard's CEO Bruce Hack said it'll be out soon. About when will SC2 be released? And what will happen to SC1's sales and marketing once SC2 is released?
A: We can't say when we'll release. We'll be going for perfection. Also we have differences with Bruce Hack. However we both want to release this game ASAP. And because we have SC2 it doesn't mean we'll forget about SC1. If there's one user that loves SC1 we'll keep it going.
Q: Zerg’s Infestor. In SC1 Infestation wasn’t used much. How much will this be used in SC2? Do the infested units count toward population?
A: Infestation is still being tested. We’ve only shown our work in progress. We’re trying to make Infestation a valid tactic in SC2. Supply depots can be infested as well. This will be a useful ability this time around. Currently you can only produce infested marines but that’s subject to change.
Q: As of today, all 3 races have been announced. Each race has strengths and weaknesses. What do you think, as a developer, are the strengths and weaknesses of each of the three races?
A: Us developers don't focus too much upon strengths and weaknesses. That's why we don't add so many unnecessary features. The player is left to decide what the strengths and weaknesses are.
Conclusion
It looks like StarCraft 2 is coming along very nicely and hopefully they will be able to provide us with a release date soon. Although the Q&A is very vague it is very exciting!

The New Units
Out with old and in with the new as they say. The Zerg are getting some brand new units in StarCraft 2 that will majorly change the game. The new members of The Swarm look very interesting and the old units have picked up some new abilities.
Baneling
The Baneling is a evolution of the Zergling. Doing heavy damage to large groups of units and moving very fast in a rolling motion. It appears to be much like the infested Terran unit with a suicidal splash damage attack. The function and appearance look to be the same as the original release of this unit at the World Wide Invitational.
Roach
A medium sized unit with a very high speed of movement and regeneration rate, The Roach appears to be formidable opponent for all the races. Not much is known about this unit yet but it looks like it does some sort of splash damage with green acid.
Infestor
With the loss of the Defiler, the Zerg have adapted with this new unit the Infestor. It can move under the earth and will have alot of the same abilities as its predecessor including swarm, and plague. A new ability has been introduced, called Infestation it allows the Infestor to take over buildings and create Infested Terran out of them. The only buildings confirmed for infestation are the Barracks and the Supply Depot.

Corruptor
This flying unit has the special ability to infest other flying units and take control of them. It is a air to air unit but dont let that mislead you about its power. A group of these can take over a large air army and turn it against its creator, making this a fearsome addition to the Swarms arsenal.
Swarm Guardian
This unit appears to be unchanged for the most part but it does have the ability to create broodlings. What is in store for this member of the Swarm remains to be seen but it appears to be a very promising unit.
Teaching a Dog New Tricks
Alot of the older units have gained some fascinating new abilities. The Queen seems to have taken a much larger role in the game, you will be able to spawn this unit from the beginning and her major role will be defensive. The Zergling remains mostly unchanged except for its ablilty to mutate into the Baneling. One of the most fearsome units in the game, the Ultralisk has gained the burrow ability and will now be able to lie in wait for its enemies.
Overlords with their massive usefulness for detection and transportation will now have to get an upgrade to detect stealthed enemies. Lurkers are now visible when burrowed and seems to be much more cost effective due to the amount of them fielded in a single army. With these changes the Swarm seems to be headed towards a very evolved state! Now who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks huh?
For the Swarm!
This is the last installment of the races and now we can get a small idea of how Blizzard has been shaping the game. The release date still has not been set and Blizzard is keeping their mouths shut about any general time frame. Thought it cannot be too much longer now that all the races have been released there are still quite a few bugs to work out but who knows when it will happen.
All info was taken from Gosugamers
Personally I think the zerg look great, and this comes from a terran player. The zerg have definetly gotten a huge improvement over the original SC, but my major complaint is the fact that lurkers are longer stealthed when burrowed. If I am dumb enough to walk my marines over a lurker, I should suffer the consequences, the shouldn't be shown for me, as they were a key unit to zerg offenses before irradiate comes into play.
Still looks good though
protoss FTW, i did enjoy zerg too tho

SC2 Cinematic focus: Kerrigan

This is presumably Kerrigan, Queen of Blades, trying to kick Zeratul in the face with her wicked stiletto feet.
You can see toes clearly in the last slow-down on the first kick.
This is taken from the impressive cinematic of the Marine being assembled by Blizzard, copyright to them and etc.
