I've always wondered...What would the average gamer need 2 gigabit ports for?

Send & receives files faster at lan parties. You can team them together.

you can smoothwall them as well and use your computer as a router :X

Is there special software to do that? Or does windows do it automatically? So you're basicly doubling your throughput?

Congrats! I hope you like you new computer! From what I hear alienware may be a little bit pricey, but you get support from them that is second to none. Also that alien ice cooling is really good! I have the same peltier system that they use on my quad core rig. I wanna see you post in the fastest computer thread when you get it! Also, are you coming to the lan?

wish you luck with your system, and hope you never have to deal with thier tech support. idiots, complete idiots.

i bought a AW area-51-M 7700 back in 2005 right before i went to Iraq. $3800, and for the most part has been a solid laptop. was thinking i might bring it to the LAN instead of my desktop, but who knows.

Dude, you bought a Dell !!!

thats why I always build my own and for their prices I'd have something way more powerful that what they offer.

Watercooled powerhouse !

[QUOTE=rDigital;29983] From what I hear alienware may be a little bit pricey, but you get support from them that is second to none. QUOTE]

thier support is horrible. they outsource thier callcenter to india. no shit. i love how they have american names tho, but by thier accent you know.

the tech support people are nothing but script readers. this is how some big computer manufac. do support thier PCs, but i had really hoped when Dell bought Alienware, they would have atleast fixed this, but it is not the case.

i did have my memory fry twice in my laptop. the first time my laptop was dead for 2 months before i came home on leave and could send it in to them for repair. they provided a return lable, and i sent it in the 2nd day i was back. it took them 18 days to locate my laptop in thier repair depot. that was just to locate.. another 21 days later they had it fixed, and shipped to my house. all they repair was the memory. i marked my mobo and video card before shipping to them to see if it got replaced, same marks when i got it back.

the 2nd time my memory fried, i said *^#$*^#$*^#$*^#$ AW, and bought some Mushkin memory.. problem solved.

im thinking of sending my laptop in due to it being so old now and out of date and only about 6 months left on my warranty. it is having overheating issues, so who knows, i might get lucky and get some upgrades.

Yeah building your own is the way to go, I just built a evga 780i, q6600 @ 3.4ghz, 4gb ram, 8800 gt, ocz psu @ 700w, 22 in LG widescreen monitor 2ms 3000:1 contrast, etc, etc and I probably spent half the money he did on it :)
