Okay I want to build myself a cheap system and thinking of this :
FYI: I have everything except the cooler , dvd drive .
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
AMD AM2 Brisbane 4000+ 2.1 GHZ (hopefully to 2.6GHZ)
GSkill DDR2 800 1GB of Ram
Nvidia 7600GT
Thermaltake Purepower 380W
Chenbro Case
Artic Freezer Pro
TX-2 Grease
Windows XP SP2
Could this run Team Fortress in decent settings. I have most of these parts . I just have to go into my parents storage to get it and get my video card back from my friend.

the only problem i see would be your powersuply and your video card. not sure that PSU is up to snuff to power that system. most mobos need atleast a 400 watt PSU, and thats no including what everythign else needs like GPU, HDs, and whatever else.
i would look at what the specs are for the mobo/cpu/GPU and see if it will cover it. assuming it does, you should be golden. the 7600 isnt the latest and greatest, but should be able to handle TF2 and play at your resolution you want. dont expect high details and terrain tho.

Should run fine. I got a
AMD 64 4000+ Socket 939 (lulz) oc to 2.7 ghz
1 gb ram
7950 gt 512 mb
I run it at med-high settings with a config that turns off a few simple things like skybox and get decent fps. Of course with that PC in heavy gun battles you might lag, but its pretty good.

Hey Leoftw,
I am starting an online computer component distributing business and would be able to help you in building your system. My website is under construction www.technologymadeeasier.com so nothing is there. However, Ill need more information from you to aid you. How much money you are willing to spend? What will the computer be used for mainly? And the current estimated cost of the machine you have listed; I might be able to beat it. I also am running a hosting business as well webmadeeasier.com. I am very competitive and will compete for customers.
Cheers,

I think the bottleneck is the 7600gt. It will be playable at 1024x768 but you'll be on low or medium settings at best.

look for a AMD 5200+ AM2 Dual Core, they're nearly the same price as the 4000
also holding you back, as other people said, is your 7600. from personal experience just take the extra 100 or so dollars and use a 8800GT OC, then you'll run every game all the way graphically enhanced with pretty much no problem... don't run crisis though with this settings, that just wont work.

Leo where did I ever say anything about building your system. I was just saying that I had a connection to low priced parts :P

imho his PSU is going to be a bottleneck before that GPU will be.

I have an
AMD Athlon XP 2600 (12x200) Socket A
1.5GB PC3200 DDR RAM
and an ATI Radeon x1650pro 512MB GDDR3 (600c 800m) AGP 8x
Runs TF2 at all High
AA: 2x
AF: 4x Tri
Vsync off.
30-60fps. Not bad for a 4 year old system right? :D
My "gaming" laptop is running on a 6800 mobile and single core. I'm sure you'll be able to run it "fine". :P
Speaking of new systems, too bad the AMD's are lagging behind. They have that 9600+ Black Edition Quad Core for like $200.

I'm a AMD Fanboy too, I need to get me one of those.

AMD/ATi is more geared for modelling/game development.
Which is all good in my book. Although they cant perform as well as a Nvidia 8800 or Core2Duo. Multi-cores is crap in my opinion though. Just because it has an extra core doesnt mean its another CPU

That's not too far off of my specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1700 (oc to 3200xp)
1GB PC3200 DDR RAM
ATi Radeon x850ti PE
Runs hotter than a &#@&(&*@(er tho!

I bet!
What is the multipliers and voltage you using on your 1700? To get that mofo to a 3200 that CPU should be cooled with some huge ass air cooler or water cooling
