View Full Version : Remove Warpath

This is my plea to remove Warpath on the normal rotation server - at least until it is fixed and after the time expires the map changes. It is nearly impossible to get an RTV to pass on the map and it's not because people don't want the map to change here is why.
Person 1 RTVs, 2, 3, 4, & 5 do also. Others are still having fun don't RTV at this point.
Persons 2 & 4 stick around for a little bit hoping others will RTV noone else does so they leave the server.
Person 31 & 32 join the game and now person 6, 7, & 8 RTV but they've lost 2 votes to leavers and now 31 & 32 are fresh meat and certainly aren't going to start typing RTV.
Now person 1, 3, & 8 all leave the server making room for persons 33, 34, & 35 to join..
Wash, rinse, repeat.
So the map never changes and goes on for hours on end or until one of the admins for Normal rotation decide to change it themselves. So my request is to please remove it from rotation until the developer fixes it OR change the spawn timers to 30ish seconds and maybe one team will be able to win outright.

I don't have a lot to say about Warpath since I haven't played on rotation a whole lot lately. It seems that the map is very linear so there is a lot of team vs team battling instead of player vs player, which makes for slow progress capturing points.
A lot of people like the map though, so I don't really see it getting removed completely. Theres always the PRO server, we are Warpath-free. You can switch over if you get tired of warpath.
Btw, I believe I am person 7 in this hypothetical scenario. I'm having a love affair with person 3.

actually, bob. I removed it last night because it wasn't changing the map until the timer ran out. So rest easy knowing it's not on that server atm.

the best way to make warpath own even more is to have a staggering spawn timer if possible meaning
each time you die it takes __ amount longer to respawn !
this would break up the struggle at times
only other way is limit classes witch is not in our plans atm if i am correct

I actually enjoy playing on warpath, hopefully it'll be back on the rotation server when issues with the map are fixed.
I actually like the map.. always have lots of fun. It does drag on tho... just some tweaking needs to be done IMO. ;)

In general I like the map also, it's just when you get stuck on it because it's not changing as intended that stinks.

WOW E why did you remove the map cause someone cried? It is one of the most challenging maps on the server. You can really fine tune your class skills on this map. People need to learn that warpath is a total team map. You need a proper team strat to win it. You will need 3 or 4 ubers to break any CP and even after that people need to work together to take down people that are alive.
IF ANYTHING i say increase the spawn timer from 5sec to 8 sec.
Removing the map mean there are to many cry babies that don't know how to work as a team. Warpath is imo the only map where someone like pr0n or myself can come in and not total effect the outcome of the map.

Jokerz, the map isn't the problem getting stuck on the map for hours on end is a problem. I don't mind too much if we get stalemated for 90 minutes on a CP because there is no teamwork. But the map -never- ends unless a team wins 2 times.

If that is your objection then i think increase the respawn time from 5 to 8 would be the best thing. If there are still to many stalemates increase it to 10

WOW Jokerz learn to read full posts.
I removed it TEMPORARILY because it was staying on that map even after a team won. It would was getting stuck and people were leaving because the map wouldn't change. I had several people PM me on Steam Friends about it so I took it out until I figure out why it's hanging when someone wins.

i ran into the problem last night
the timer on the mpa was up, it had been 90 min and should've changed...
20 min later it hadnt change so i changed it manually
i pm'd E about it and he removed it till this issue can be fixed
no one hates the map
people got upset when it wasnt chaning when it should

I like it. I just got my record backstabbings on it. It also prompted me to change my medic gun to a one-click operation. A team can't win that map without a medic (or 4).

map is awesome...
It's balanced, gives each class a few options, and rewards good teamwork....feels like the perfect map and timer for a 30 slot server.

I hated this map at first because its so choked but as everybody learned how to play it, definitely including me, it became a lot more fun.
Still, the timers are way too long. I prefer a quick rotation of maps (every 20-30 minutes) so when I find an hour to play some TF2 and its on warpath it just seems to get a bit stale after awhile.
Just my 2c.

Yeah, the problem is the time added per capture point handover ... it's not unusual to see the same point change hands 3-4 times in a 5 minute period. And each of these changes adds another 5 minutes or so to the clock.
Is the time added per capture part of the map itself, or is it a variable that can be modified ... say from 5 minutes to 2 minutes?

it doesn't add it or at least it should not add time when you cap a point what it does is refresh the timer
so each time you cap it doesn't add another 30 mins just refreshes the 30 min timer
witch can defiantly extend the game but the game it self has a total 90 min timer so it doesn't matter how many times it refreshes 90 mins it is over regardless
