Is it just going to be a race to register once its open? I know its free but will there be anything used to secure the seats? I would hate to see a bunch of seats get snapped up by people who will not be able to make it.

People registering seats and not showing - is a real problem with free events.

I think the idea of a registration deposit (non refundable) is a good one - Here's another idea for Briz - pay the 10.00 deposit to register (paypal) and get it as concession credit if you show up. or maybe 5.00 credit and 5.00 back - or whatever. Who doesn't need another Stompfest cup !!!

I don't think that's too much to ask. Supporting Local LANs is something everyone promises to do and then they don't.

but the thing is, this is a FREE lan. Requiring a down payment and having it non-refundable means the lan is not free.

It's only non refundable if you don't show. Don't register seats then not come.

The last thing you need is 50 empty seats at a free LAN, due to no-shows.

umm - i echo YETB
i know of many *cough YOUNG */cough gamers that are all talk & no show

indylan hosted "free lans" where the venue was free- we just charged $5
at the door to keep ppl from saying they'd come - but not show.
in return free pizza & soda pop PLUS all the snacks we provided.

again - i can not wait for the lan - ihope you have 100% turn out

We will absolutely be charging to hold a seat, but this money WILL BE REFUNDABLE at the door. It will probably be somewhere between $15 and $25.

Registration to hold seats is a great idea. Will keep people from taking a seat on a whim if they don't know what they are getting into.

I'm contemplating putting together a mame machine with a dry erase board next to it to see if we can get some 'high score' contests going. Would there be any interest in this and if so, would the powers that be think there would be room for it at the event? I'd probably just pick 5 popular games to choose from to keep the confusion to a minimum.

Posted this in the normal forums but figured I would throw it out here. Please disable access to any MMOs during the event. Seems like it hindered some decent competition last time, and more than likely most people are only on the same server as the friend sitting next to them so it's not like this will be any different.

I saw some posts earlier about some oldskool games. Would there be any interest in me bringing an old Centipede or Defender real standups? Would be fun to run a tourney on them. Play any time, high score on the board wins a card. Or something.

lol yeah I was the first one to get the name McLovin! >:] Regardless, yes it is a f*cked up game. The stupid thing is it's the most evenly distributed male to female ratio game out there. The girls love the cute sprite characters.

It's sprites because it came out in 1999 and it's some serious old stuff.

About 200 people on at any given time on Sakray.

Overall the gameplay is awesome but the grind is soooo baddddddd.

The worst part is I've played it on and off since Beta... lol
