You can't prove good FPS with that picture. Give us a pic with a benchmarking program # or at least a pic of CS:S with cl_showfps 1 on or net_graph 3. I want some solid proof of good FPS. don't forget fps_max 300 for over 100fps.

see this shows that in CS:S that processor and ram is more important than the video card itself (to an extent). You see showtime hitting almost 300fps with ONLY a 8800GT where as i get similar if not slightly lower FPS with my far superior 8800GTX (unless he's overclocked that 8800GT). If he ran a 3D Mark test he would see a bigger hit when compared to my vid. so for all you ppl out there that mainly play cs:s only and want more FPS... BUY A PROCESSOR AND MORE RAM not a v-card (if you don't have cash for full system overhaul). If your going to play a game that's more visually intensive tho, then i suggest going for upgrading v-cards (if your systems is up to specs ie. over 1 gig of ram and a decent processor that i wouldn't use as a coaster).

i bought xps420, with x2600, orginally 2 gbs of ram, but i just got 4 gb bring my total too 6 gb of ram but vista only recongizes 3 gbs. but one is correct, my computer faster, fps higher, and i can multi-task like no other in columbus...

You should have bought parts @ newegg for cheaper and better hardware! I'm sure you know people that can put together a system. It's pretty easy if I could do it myself ( I'm pretty stupid rofl )

But anyways.. the source engine I think depends more on the CPU. A good reason why I think this is that I just upgraded from a x1900gt to a 3870 and I see little to no difference in my FPS in source games. Yet when I play crysis or other games not based on the source engine I see an increase.

Of course.. my processor and ram is severely holding my card back. I only got a 7.8k in 3dmark06

Specs:

A64 3500+ OC'd to 4000+ ( Gawd this is so old. Sucks that this awesome card has to live with this single core pos till I get my new rig )
1.5gb ddr400 ( Too lazy to buy another pair, and at the time ddr400 sticks were expensive )
Some biostar S939 board

When I get my new rig I plan on getting a Q6600, 2gb DDR2, IP35 Pro, and another 3870 to crossfire. Can't wait!

I overclocked my 8800 GT to the limit, but the 8800 GT is not as inferior to the 8800 GTX as you think, the 8800 GT is pretty much the same but 200 dollars cheaper. But ya CS:S is a processor needing game for FPS.
