Now I know we all have specific super headsets that can do the killing for us in CS, TF2, CoD -- like our mice. But who has which headset, why and why it's better than the rest. For me I have this one

It cost me a total of 5 dollars with shipping and I believe it was refurbished. All I know is it has worked for over a year now and well worth my 5 dollars.
The reason why I wont change for any other 100 dollar + headset is that first of all it goes behind your neck instead of on your head (no more of that hat hair except with a headband look). Not only that but the speakers aren't bad and the mic is one of the clearest I've heard. It took some getting used to but damn, the thing rocks.
So go on and bash this one if you want or tell me why the one you have is better than the rest.

How well does the headset go on your ears? I need one that can stay and be worn for hours. PSU and other parts coming in today. Just processor, keyboard/mouse and other stuff to get.

I went to the Altec Lansing site (the brand I have)
It appears mine are no longer made :P
Only complaint I have with mine is sometimes my left side doesnt work and needs adjusting with the volume. Prolly something of my doing lol.

At first it was awkward, I won't lie. Then as I wore it in time it was super comfortable. It doesn't hurt the colic in your hair either. Grr That used to tick me off. The only problem is the grip thing around your ear to suction it to your head is leather, and long periods of time with it on like 6+ hours can get sweaty. It's kind of gross. But if you take it off once every hour or so for like 5 minutes it's fine. IMO best headset ever.

This was what i thought would be a tad better than the 10 dollar headsets but unfortunetly...it blows. i can't even tell when some1's behind me or not. SRS my butt! i think i'll prob go and rebuy some seinheissers someday.
btw, these are the ones i lost during a lan i went to a while back. i think i might just rebuy me a pair. i really like these. give em a shot if you willing to shill out the cash and want a decent pair of headsets.

I use it with this external soundblaster rig...

it is better/different quality than the on-board sound on my ASUS and leverages the 5.1 for movies much better. In games I use the front channels for gaming, rear channels for my own music/tv, and center channel looped through to a microphone in my office behind me so no one can EVER sneak up on me. No spies back stabbing me in MY house!

Hahaha Nice you got the ones I got. You'll prolly be like WTF at first, but then you get used to them. No more colic hurting or headband-hair.

They work nice. I got use to them fairly quickly. The only down side is you can't rest your head back because it goes behind your head. Other than that they are working great.

I use these. Pretty much pro. I can hear footsteps in long a from b, but occasionally my ears start to bleed.

I've seen some good players use that plantronics headset. Honestly, the thing with the icemats is, with some people, the way your head is structured, it may start digging into your jaw bone. As with sennheisers, great headset, but the headset may/may not go around your ear depending on which you get and the size of your ears.
Hands down, most universal companies with headsets via FPS are:
Steel Series (5Hv2s, icemats)
Sennheiser (PC 155/160s)
Plantronics (not sure)

USB headsets with built in sound cards tend to be pretty good. I enjoyed these Plantronic ones, even though they're just for work. Not sure about others, haven't tested many.

Only problem with Razer is there is no positional audio. I like my Icemats but they tend to be brittle (fuckin taped everywhere). The new Plantronics sets seem to be the best bet with sound and durability as well as comfort.

Hows this? Its $$ half of what I was planning on getting. Reviews said mic is fair/ok(somewhat quiet). Other than that its good.

I got: TRITTON TRI-AI712 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826235003)
http://www.trittontechnologies.com/products/Images/AX51contents.jpg
Because they have 5.1, and a detachable(AND moveable!!!) mic(I know they aren't the only ones)
For me they are extremely comfy, but they do make you look like a "box head" when you wear them. They are a lil heavy(again, I don't mind), and the ear cups can tilt down so you can use mic and normal speakers, like me. No USB crap. Has a power supply adapter(yes, plug them in), a clip for clothing, a control box(for volumes of each channel(not mic), a power on/off for vol/mic(seperatly), and a velcro cord wrap. ALSO- the mic is a metal wrapped bendy one, and has hard plastic instead of foam crap.
