What to use.

Decided to just help those that care enough to get better whats out there in terms of peripherals.

I don't know how big any of you are on gaming, more specifically, Counter-strike 1.6 or source. But, the rig is only half the battle outside of the game.
Mice:
Microsoft Intelliexplorer 1.1
Microsoft Intelliexplorer 3.0
Razer Deathadder
Logitech Mx518
(People that think they're good use the Logitech G5)

Keyboards:
Don't really matter but if you guys are big on going to LANs where space may be an issue, don't get the G15.

Mousepads:
Some of you may not think that mousepads mean anything. In reality, most people put between $20-40 into mousepads (those that compete in CAL/CEVO/LANs).
Most common mouse pads are mostly those made my steel series but there are others:
steelseries qcK+
steelseries S&S
steelseries 5L
icemat 2nd edition

Headsets:
Straight up, if you end up going competitive, ditch the speakers.
Most common headsets are:
Icemat Siberias
Senheisser PC155s and 160s
Steelsound 5Hv2s [suck]

A lot of other "lower end" players in CAL/CEVO/CGS/etc may use different peripherals as shown here. Those are mostly the people that trash talk the "better" computer "gear" or may think highly of one thing over another. Lower end players may also use non-mainstream items. [There's a reason why "pros" use what they use]

Honestly go ahead and bash and/or not reply. If I don't get banned and people actually some what care, then I'll post other stuff and/or help people out. Other than that don't ask me why I posted this.

i use the explorer 4.0. use to use the mx518 but lost it (don't ask how). went to a g5. it's an ok mouse but...yeah it's not for me. also the design of the mouse although similar to the mx518 was hurting my hand after bout an hour of use, hence the switch to the explorer 4.0.

mousepad i use: steelpad S&S. i love it! kinda big tho.

keyboard: i don't like my keyboard i use now b/c they key's are too delicate for my taste hence why i jump everyonce in awhile out of the blue if you ever watch me play.

headset: i can't stress how IMPORTANT this is. right now i have a crappy altec lansing headset and boy, i can't hear crap! i don't know where anyone's at. Heck! i can't even tell if they're behind me or infront of me. buy a good headset guys. i miss my Senheisser PC155.

good call i used to use the S&S. In my opinion as is with other players...the steelpad S&S is for precision shots. so it's pretty win :D. Also pc155s are awesome. One thing I must be misinterpreting is that you say the S&S is big...I have a steelsteries qcK+ and its 19" x 17":eek:

It's true though I'm sorry to say lol. If you got it for cheaper that's always good...but as I read up on what others think and what I have personally tried, it's just not as good as say the razer mice, microsoft intelliexplorers, and even the mx518

idk if u are aware but im actually the best player on the internet as proven in the cal-i forums

and the fact that you mentioned icemats means the entire OP is not true. a) headsets are horrible -- much better to just get some auditechnia or sennheiser phones and a zalman mic, b) for their price, they are probably the worst headset you can possibly buy. and i won't even get started with their usb sound card. the 7.1 surround is a gimmick, true surround doesn't exist in headphones, a normal circumaural will do the same thing. but at least you said the steelsound 5hv2s are bad. cus that is true.

Microsoft mice are shaped weird. And I didn't want to drop 70 on a razer. Though I'll agree w/you that they're better.

my keyboard and mouse is the Microsoft wireless set.

The wireless mouse is nice, but the keyboard can be a pain. I have to keep the reciever right next to my keyboard else I stop moving forward at random times cause the signal is lost for a millisecond so it doesnt reckgonize I'm hitting W once the signal returns.

Its good when I have the reciever righ next to it, but that means it isnt truely wireless when im playing FPS games.

I have Altec lansing headset which isnt of the brands you stated, but I still like em, they cost me about 60 or 70 dollars when I bought them about 1 1/2 years ago.

I got a cheapass mousepad I bought at wal mart 3 years ago :P

I need a new one becuase this one is getting old, and dust is getting ground into the pad.

MX518's never disappear, they have been known to grow legs and run away if there owner is a noobie dude I remember when I did that when I was rushing long A than I fell back threw a smoke mid, than flashed lower B than ran up the flank of lower A and than tossed a HE Grenade at the A plat, than dropped down cat and went to CT spawn, and than I killed the AFK, and than I did a 180 headshot on the Counter Terrorist, than I did a backflip and turned nightvision on, but than many CT's started coming at me so I shot them in the face with my USP, but than I ran out of ammo and used my M4 and than that ran out of ammo so I resorted to the AWP, and than I fell of the freaking map and landed somewhere with snow on a snowboard in midair doing some kool move, and I looked like Kevin.
