Well, I've been working at best by for awhile and it turns out we get access to this retailedge thing from intel...anyway, basically we get this HUGEASS discount on this processor bundle.
I get two options:
Option A ($219)
-Intel® Core™2 Quad Q6600 processor
-Intel® Desktop Board DG33TL Media Series
-Windows Vista* Home Premium Edition
Option B ($249)
-Intel® Core™2 Quad Q6700 processor
-Intel® Desktop Board DG33TL Media Series
-Windows Vista* Home Premium Edition
To be able to buy, you have to earn a certain number of "Chips" that you get for passing these quizzes on the intel architecture (they're probably wanting to get you to know the processor so you'll sell it to customers). Anyway, It's about 1000 chips per article and you need 9000 chips for option a and 12000 chips for b. New tests come out every month and I've taken every I can so far. I've earned 9225 chips and I'm wondering...should I wait and buy Option B? or should I just go ahead and buy option A.
oh, and btw...I'll probably be selling vista home premium (I already have ultimate) so if any of you stompfest members need vista just let me know.

**EDIT**
Oh, my current system specs are:
CPU: Pentium D 930 (3Ghz stock OC'd to 4Ghz) | Motherboard: ASUS P5WD2-e Premium | RAM: Patriot 2GB DDR2 6400 | Graphics: BFGTech 7900 GTX OC Edition
Yeah, my CPU has really been bottlenecking my computer...resolution/AA is what makes my fps shoot down.
fuck it! i say go overhaul you system now (if you got the cash)!. i mean why wait?

Well...if I wait and earn 12,000 chips I can get the better bundle, but I'll probably have to wait till the middle of next month or so.

im currently runnig the Q6600 GO with stepping of SLACR.
this CPU can OC on air above 3gig.. easily. on water you can almost push 4gig.
as for the q6700... its basicly the 6600 but binned higher because for whatever reason it passed more tests and intel can market it as a 6700 instead of a 6600.
being that they are really the same CPU, and because of the little cash difference, i would go witht the 6700, but if cash becomes a problem, you can easily take the 6600 and OC just as high as that 6700 will oC.
the boards are basicly junk. sell it off, but the price alone is cheaper than what you will pay for the CPU. so sell off the board and the OS and use that cash to buy a decent board.
If your runnign DDR3 or plan on buying DDR3, go with the new x38 boards, otherwise if you want to use DDR2 still use teh p35 baords.
im running a asus p5k deluxe wifi. not a big fan of this board as i am a DFI fan, but this board does the job

yeah i've got a B3 6600. Runs quite a bit hotter. On air at 3.0 i'm getting a CPU temp of about 35 and core temps at about 49. When stressing them at 100% they get REALLY hot though. Pushing 70.
Time To Auction Off That Vista!!

in real gaming and normal apps quad = pointless for most ppl. Games just barely starting to come out that use core duo. It will be a long time until they can use quad. My answer get the core duo and game happy. There is always new tech coming and going. Dont wait for something "cool" as it will fade anyways. I debated about getting the 8800 vid card for so long. Looking back i just wish i got it sooner so i can see all the games in total uberness.

Would quad be more efficient in high grade multimedia then gaming? I would assume so. SLI would be good too.

why are you debating quad vs core2, hes gettin a bombass quad + motherboard + other crap i dont remember for the same price as just a core2duo, just save up and get option B, i mean you might as well and shit maybe while you're savin theyll update the packages to better shit
quad cores might be pointless for the time but if you can get a quad cheap, why not? selling of the vista and mobo he can make at least $100 back meaning a quad core for a lil over $100 is not bad at all. if you have the technology, it'll soon be useful. i bought my 8800gtx when it first came out when NO GAMES supported dx10 and look at now. i have no need to upgrade. on the other hand, i bought my dual core bout a year ago and am thinking of upgrade as we speak. sometimes, esp if you can get good deals, go for the higher end technology. just pray it don't fail *cough* windowsxp 64 *cough*

Oh I have a question I forgot to ask. DX10 only works on vista right x32/x64? I was thinking it was ok on XP x64 bit too.
