failed to lock vertex buffer CMeshDX8::LockVertexBuffer

I get that error randomly while playing CS:S does anyone know how i can fix it?!!?!1?!?!!? or is anyone having the same problems

i used to get that. i guess you have a laptop? it would happen sometimes when i'd alt+tab.

what fixed it was getting the Omega drivers. i uninstalled my normal ones in safe mode, used Driver Cleaner in safe mode, then got the Omega drivers and it hasn't happened again

also try running the game in directx 8.1 (-dxlevel 81 in launch properties) and obviously disabling bloom and HDR


the answer on Steam support says
The 'Failed to lock index buffer' error will occur when you Alt+Tab to switch between windows while playing a game and your machine is unable to allocate sufficient memory to render graphics when you switch back to your game window.

The best solution for this behavior is to properly exit the game to return to your desktop so you may work with other applications.

Yeah i looked at that answer I also found that valve claims it happens when you have a DVD burner. Ill try dx 8.1 see what happens hopefully i can get rid of this porblem its so annoying
