Hello everyone, i've just ordered most of my new parts for my computer build and i'd like some feedback

The case
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811217017

Handles are turbo, i think this could be a halfway decent box. as long as it will stay cool.

The board
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128014

gigabyte am2 sli board. 16gb mem max (like ill ever come close to using it) nforce 570 sli northbridge. the only downside is after i ordered it i found out that the nforce 570 chipset only supports sli at 2 by 8x pcie. but again, i probably will not even notice a vast difference.

The memory
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820141299

2x1gb pqi ram at pc6400. timing is 4-4-4-12. will probably buy another kit soon after.

The drive
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822152054

Samsung spinpoint 320gb 7200rpm 16mb cache. nuff said.

in the mean time i will be borrowing a processor and video card which will be an amd64 3200 (will be upgrading to an fx62) and a 7900gs (upgrading to 8800gt) i think. i also will have to make a micro center visit for the dvd burner and other odds and ends. oh how good it will feel to no longer be in the agp and socket a days! i left my sig on to show where i was at to compare to where im headed.
Thoughts, questions, comments.:)

i dont know if this will help but im immediately splitting the drive into 2 partitions. one will be 120 and the rest on the other. my eventual goal is a 32 bit xp and a 64 bit vista dual boot.

Stay away from Samsung drives. Lean toward Seagate. Maybe throw in 10k RPMs. The rest is OK.

Ive had pretty good luck with the samsung drives. id love to throw a raptor in there but i was on a budget. i got all this gear for less than $300

you shoulda consulted first b4 ordering. not much we can do now but...i'd stay away from amd dual cores. honestly if you had to build a computer now i'd either go with intel core duo or a quad core from intel (yes there are cheap ones!).

case is ok but if you gonna run the 8800 cards then you might want a better power supply. stock 500 = iffy. i suggest thermaltake or antec probably 600+ esp if u ever want to run SLi.

Harddrive's ok. nothing wrong with samsung. i woulda went for a faster one but ur on budget. i'd partition it into 20gig partitions for operating system. so dual boot = 2 X 20gig and rest for storage or gaming drive. i suggest this b/c if you ever need to format and reinstall, this IS the way to go.

Rams a tad cheap but hey, if your not going to overclock then there's no reason for getting good ram imo. i'm a overclocking buff so i only go with either OCZ or Crosair. 2 gigs is a good number. it's what i'm running.

as for the video card, i HIGHLY SUGGEST you save up money and get the 8800GT. that card is so sexy for what it cost. also look out for the 8800GTS prices. i've heard that it'll drop soon.

I told him to go w/an intel core. I have an AMD dual core and it bottlenecks my system. It's not exactly slow, but it doesn't perform as well as an intel does at this point. but NOOOOOOOOOO through soem ass backwards logic he didn't want to listen to me.

Thanks one, the input is much appreciated! i figured id definately need a new psu at some point, the stock 500w is to get things off the ground. i pretty much figured that price to performance that the amd chips were the way to go. i might be wrong but with any luck the phenom cores will be slightly better performers. plus im sure i could oc the fx62 a bit, it might still choke the video card but compared to what im working with atm anything is better than nothing.

to me, it's just that the AMD dual cores just aren't all that great. i mean if i'm going to pay money for a dual core, i want a dual core damn it. intel is the way to go b/c your getting a good dual core for the money ur dropping on it. if i just wanted something fast for the price i'd buy a fast single core that i can overclock the crap outta. but no worries, ur not alone b/c i too went with amd dual core *sigh*

BTW. AMd dual cores are great. Execpt for the L2cache 256x256 ones. They get bottlenecked easily. They don't really make those models anymore for that reason. I have a 512x512 one. Never had a problem with it bottlenecking. Also be sure to install the dual core optimizer driver. Off there website. Really helps with games and old games not crashing, etc.

BTW. Enoy your new build x)
