View Full Version : Best Gaming Mouse?

Best gaming mouse? I'm using a Logitech G7. Not happy with the precision in tracking. Keep reading reviews that say the G5 or the Razr mouse are the best. G5 is same laser unit as the G7.
Any thoughts?

Logitech G5 has no wireless laggyness. Good and meaty. Razer Copperhead is the scalpel of mice. Requires a very light touch.

Anyone who says this has NEVER used the G7.

There is no wireless lag on a G7. I was surprised by that when I got mine. It'll pwn your face off just as well as a G5, as I've used both.

Mousepad is probably your chief concern...I use my awesome ones I get free from work that aren't plastic surfaced...work great for gaming.

g7 is the only wireless you should get. Sryden has some pimped out mousepad, big and very smooth. Pricey tho like $70 pricey.

Im very happy with the G5. But like a dummy I was using a wireless mouse before I bought it, so the weight cartridge is whats primarily selling me. Not to mention the selectable dpi.

ok ok ok.. yes quality does matter. But don't try to sell this man on the mouse you use. diM uses ball mouse. I use microsoft optical blue. I'm a firm believer in the MX518 as well. Sitting atop a nice icemat. Too bad the combination really doesn't make you any better at aiming. At least in my case.

lol showtime are you e-stalking me? First of all I have people who know me better than you that can attest to my sick AK shot. But that is in the past. I know its hard to believe that some people can't dedicate 3 years of their life to CS, but deal with it dude.

And awesome, the MX518 is a good quality mouse. Again dude thats great that you want the best equipment you can buy. But things like mouses and config settings and sensitivity. They are alllll personal preference. There are pro's that use sensitivity 1.0 but that doesn't mean I'm automatically going to listen to them.

Again, I'm not saying the MX518 is a bad quality mouse I am just saying you have to find your own personal preference and stick with that.

For fucks sake I even use left-hand view in-game. Now seriously showtime, I said no to you before on mercnet, and I will say no again. I am not interested in being your boyfriend before, now, or ever. So please gee tee efff ohh.

i currently use the g5. i have to admit, i'm not impressed. although when the mouse works well it's not so bad a mouse but i've been having major issues with it acting weird when i get into game. mouse sens will jump to amazing lvls @ first (move a center meter and u did like 3 turns GG) and then stabalizing back when i move the sens down to lowest and back up to highest. maybe i just need time to know the mouse and play with it more (i'm hoping this is the case) but right now i miss my mx510. i've never played with the 518 and if i can't get this on-the-fly sensativity shit working right i'll never go with it. IMO there was NOTHING wrong with the mx510. best gaming mice i've ever used. gliding accross my steelpad, even my intellipoint cheapo generic mouse works well. only reason i'd use something like a 510 or higher would be due to the fact that i play @ ultra low sensativity (currently @ .33 for g5) with tweaked m_customaccel to compensate for big movements and turns. this in affect helps my aiming BUT without a sensative mouse minor adjustments are difficult, hence the need for steelpad and a good mouse. it's pretty much all up to ur gaming style really @ the end. i've used an intellipoint 5 button mouse for most of my gaming life (all of cs beta - cs 1.6) and it worked fine with the right settings and mousepad. nothing's really that different from using a normal mouse and a high end gaming mouse unless you get to the nitty picky minor things (really does help if your aiming is acutally that precise). bah, i've talked to much again. :(

I've had a g7 for well over 8 months now. The hot-swappable battery setup with on the fly sensitivity control makes it a great mouse for both work and play. The batteries still have not lost their strength ie. picked up a memory. I highly recommend the expense. Your reflexes will thank you.

I've not tested the G7 so I can't say much on it but last time i used a wireless mouse (mx1000 laser) the minute mouse lag really blew. did they fix that in the G7?

microsoft intelliexplorer 1.1 or 3.0 if you think you can't afford the..
razer deathadder.
I know a lot of people who play in higher leagues that switched from the mx518, ms 1.1, ms 3.0, or any other trash out there and they love it.
Copperhead is good until it shits out and doesn't track anymore. pos imo i had one.
And I'm not someone who is going around trashing all these mice and have never used them
My past mice: Logitech Marble Mouse (Played DoD 1.3 invite with it so back off), Logitech mx518, Logitech G5, Razer Copperhead, Razer Diamondback, Razer Deathadder, Microsoft Intelliexplorer 1.1, Microsoft Intelliexplorer 3.0 (Some of these were lent to me or just given to me, some of them I won)

rofles, i loved my mx518 but then i disappeared after i took it to a Starcraft lan party we had. Mice I have currently used are G5, Microsoft Intelipoint Optical Mouse (OLD), and Microsft Explorer Mouse 4.0. The G5 was ok, not a bad mouse really but the design was just not right for me. My hand would hurt after bout an hour of using it. I swapped to the OLD optical mouse but just wasn't the same feel. Now i'm using the Explorer 4.0. kinda good compromise of the 2. I still miss my old mx518 tho.

EV and I pwn the 6 dollar mice. I have a Logitech basic of the basic mice. Though it is LASER OMFG. It was 6 bucks and it works. All I know is I move my hand to any body's head and hit them in the face. I guess those 60+ dollar mice improve your ability to move your hand or something. Super expensive mice = not for me.

I'm not sure if it's good or not but I tried a Razer Viper with a specialized func pad surface 1030 competition mousing surface. I used it for a while, it took some getting used to... even then no difference at all. Also the heavier the mouse the more it seems to hinder control. I dunno, again just not for me.

Well since the dpi settings can be often changed on this gaming mouses, what is everyone's sensitivity set to? My optical mouse and I keep it easy at 4 lol. Here comes the .017s

ONE
12-09-2007, 06:24 AM
well honestly it all depends on how heavy ur movment is with ur hands imo. if you one of those guys that like to make slight adjustmetns (ie, moving ur aim to head from neck while in mid shot) or one that just like to do estimated shooting (ie, shoot them in the neck, close enough to be called hs). i now use a microsft exploere mouse 4.0. it's no where near the sensativity as the g5 i use to use at max dpi (2000). i can no longer make slight adjustments like i use to but for the most part it works the same. so in a way u can say this mouse is the same as my g5 or you can say it's not. if you one that preaims every corner then it doens't matter if you use a ball mouse or a laser. if your one of those that like to always aim for head then it does matter. i mean i get a lot of headshots (41% last checked) but i have to admit most are preaimed. you know where they'll be coming form so u pre aim it at their heads height. i've also been mad a few times tho when people don't come around where i think they'll be at. at times like those a more sensative mouse woulda worked for me. the slight precise movent at that time woulda been what i needed. so pretty much, really depends on play style. hell i know those that hardly move their mouse at all if not for turning. i currently use a sens of 3.6 on my explorer mouse and use to use .6 on g5.

I purchased a MX Revolution a couple weeks ago, and though I like the feel of the mouse a lot, the scroll wheel is super-sensitive and keeps switchin my damn weapon, so I definitely wouldn't recommend that.

I've been using a thermaltake mouse pad for a while now and love it. It's pretty cheap for the LED design

I love my G5, forever and always, even when I had to replace it... twice. But that was more due to heavy use and an unfortunate incident with some soup... I love the texture on the new ones and to my surprise, I have found uses for the extra two buttons they added in the most recent generation.

I don't want to knock on your mouse but I'm going to have to . That Mx Revo is a god awful mouse for gaming . Even at full settings it was a complete bitch and has a lag to it when making quick turns. I own it and use it for everything besides gaming. For gaming it sucks terribly . The wheel on that mouse is really sick though but the new logitech G9 has that wheel and I will be picking it up soon. I own the Mx Revo and the MX518 . The MX518 is perfect for gaming but I want to give the G9 a shot so I could get rid of the MxRevo and the MX518 and make it my primary mouse.

by far logitech mice are the best to get.....Razer mice have good technology, but the overall feel to me is cheap.

The best logitech mouse now is the G9, it has weights like the G5, but it feels alot better. IF you wanna get a wireless mouse then get the G7. I kinda collect mice, ive used or own almost all the logitech and razer ones out.

I use the Razer Copperhead and it works great. It's a little uncomfortable around the sides since i have fat thumbs i get an indentation line down the middle of my thumb after gaming for awhile. I like being able to switch 400dpi at a time when switching from heavy to other classes, and the software it comes with is pretty nice. Although I've used a Microsoft standard laser mouse before that for about 5 years and it worked just fine. Also, the G5 is supposed to be the cream of the crop for gaming mouses, but i've never used it myself so i couldn't say.

I gots tah have my hand on a comfortable surface.. I use a Razer Deathadder on the Razer eXactmat.

Used to have the default mouse that came with my p.o.s. computer, until I realized how many batteries it ate up and the paint is rubbed off from too much gaming which maked it look even more haggard than it actually was.

Also, I use the Logitech G15 keyboard.. my mouse and keyboard set up definitely does not go with my computer, but I thought why not get new mouse and crap before I get a new computer?

Does the type of mouse really make any difference or is it the way it feels in your hand and works for you. I have tried many of them including the dethadder and the G7 is the most comfortable for me. Which I guess would mean a mouse is more of a personal thing as they seem to all be very close in performance. IMHO
