can't connect to steam

every time I try to log in steam tells me it is having trouble connecting to steam servers. My son is logged into his account upstairs off the same router. I've tried turning my firewall off and no change. Any ideas?

did both. even went back to my last system restore point. still isn't connecting
also attempted to launch via the "-tcp" option suggested on valves troubleshooting topics. still no dice :(

Are you still having this problem? Did you try deleting clientregistry.blob?

did that too. Once I shut down Aidan's computer I was able to log in.
whats weird is we were both on steam earlier today but tonight the router wasn't having it

Try resetting your router, if you still have the problem. Usually does that for me.
