So, last night I installed Win7 HP 64b on my new WD CB HD. I made a 50GB partition for Win 7 and partitioned the rest for wutever I like. Win 7 RC was installed on my Seagate drive (which is what I have been primarily using for the past few months) so I signed onto that drive and used the steam backup utility to back up the main games that I play onto the WD Hard drive. I then went to all the directories where my game setting/game save files were stored (including Boderlands) and backup those up. Then, I copied my entire Steam folder onto the new drive (Since I was going to be wipe'in the Seagate drive so it could be used as a back up drive)

So i backed everything up and got my official Win 7 install on my WD HD up and running. Then, I formatted the Seagate drive and moved all the back up materials on the WD drive to the Seagate drive. I opened up steam off the WD drive and let it "re-install" itself. Checked all my games and all of my games setting/saves carried over perfectly. Or so I thought. Fired up Boderlands and ALL MY SHIT WAS GONE. I mean, I only had one level 32 Siren but for someone who plays as casually as I do, that's going to take me a long fucking time to get back.

Wow. That blows hardcore. What directory did you take the borderlands files from? Like I'm pretty sure in 7 the files are in Documents/My Games/Borderlands.

This is why I wish games saved to a cloud. It's really frustrating for me because I game on both my home PC and my laptop, so I'm essentially running 2 dif accounts with 2 different saves. Lame :(

Indeed my friend, indeed. But did I hear (read) you talking with someone about 'Steam Cloud' or something like that? And you guys were talking about how it saved all ur game settings. I think someone specifically mentioned their l4d1 settings carrying over to l4d2. Did I hear wrong? If not, is that only specific to valve games?

when I first booted up l4d2, my voice command bind didn't carry over, but that may be because I hadn't opted into the cloud with L4D2 yet. It's very possible, though.
