Area51 Needs Your Help!
I talked with Hunter from the LPC this past weekend at Stompfest and got some damn good advice concerning the Area51 party.
It's brought me to the realization that theres a lot more that goes into a party than I thought. From large parties like Stompfest to "soon to be large but still not that far" parties like LANSiege need staff. Even Nuno has help with IndySmash. So as you can easily see where im going with this, we need help.
If your well versed in Power, Networking, Server Administration, Website Maintenance/Programming (preferably PHP management systems like post-nuke), and/or just want to throw in ideas and suggestions we want YOU! Also if you have equipment you want to sell or you can loan us, or you can negotiate sponsorship deals we want you. The only requirements for this are: If your in this for the long run and you know what you say you know. I don't want anyone to join up,and claim they are a Network guru only to find out you can't tell the difference between a router and a switch. Keep in mind, this is a non-profit position(not yet at least)... but trust me, you will be more than compensated with Bawls, Food, Free Admission(duh!), and fame/glory that only comes from running a successful party.
I do want to note that if you currently work/donate to/help out another lanparty organization, that you are totally clear with the people that run that party about your position with Area 51. I will try my damndest to never schedule our party the same day as some else's, but I do not want to have any conflicts due to you working with 2 seperate parties.
So if your still reading this, you must be interested in helping out. You can volunteer your services by e-mailing me at xcodezerox@msn.com I'll be in touch as soon as possible, as we hope to be having the first party in November (October one is being pushed back). I thank you in advance for any help anyone can offer and I hope to talk to you soon.
P.S. I can't squeal it to the public yet, but we already have 1 major nationwide computer store, and 1 major nationwide Video Gaming store in our pocket as sponsors. Keep in mind, we haven't even had our 1st party yet..... So we must be doing something right, eh? Expect this party to be quite nice.
