We usually let the winner of each Tournament pick something off of the prize table.
CS will not have a prize this time!!!!

It's about time... Maybe that will be the first catalyst to help people addicted to CS to stop fricken playing seriously, and just relax.

thats awesome rebo. im so glad that you and the stompfest staff are taking a stand on this issue. im sorry but winning a tournement should be reward enough and all the prizes should be given out at random but thats just my opinion.
i think that is a good ideal but i also think there should like little prizes like a case carry thingy or somehting like that just little stuff but not tell ny one what the prize is going to be

Rebo,
Are you saying there is no CS Tournament prize payout like last time?
Not speaking for myself, I hope you are ready to issue a lot of refunds. . .
Why do you think this LAN draws double or triple the amount of people that most of the others in our area do and have teams come in from as far as Texas?
I don't care if it sounds "greedy", I'd never have a shot at winning it and I'm local to Indy so it's not that big a deal.
But if you aren't putting on a CS Tournament like last time, that's information that needs to be on the front page of the website, not buried here in the msg boards.
I know many that are coming just because of that. Yeah, the rest of you play several other games, but some just focus on what the CPL is doing at the moment.

true but i tink people will still come so it sould still be big

I can't wait to try some UT2003.
Never tried MOHAA online, but I'll have it loaded and updated to give it a shot too.

Trash, that's the reason many come from far and wide, but if CS wasn't as dominant as it is at SF, I belive the same amount of local people will show up just for that fact, filling up the venue anyway. That's just my view on things.

Works for me, I love meeting gamers from around the state. We can all say we have at least one thing and common....and that's without wives or parents griping at us for playing so much.
Believe it or not, gaming is what brought me in the field of Information Technology back in 1986. Oh c'mon now THRASH, PC's haven't even been out that long.....
Wanna bet? I wrote my first little game on a C-64. Anyone old enough to remember Larry Bird - Dr J One On One? Summer Games? My first dab into programming was back in 1985 when I made a little car go across the screen.
So CS or no CS, I'd be happy to try out some new games like UT2003 and finally play some MOHAA online.
Man I'm gettin old....
cool cool nice double post:)

If anyone asks for a refund purely because they can't play for a little bit of money, allow me to shove it where the sun don't shine, and ask them to kindly grow the hell up.
I'm sorry, and this isn't meant to attack anyone in any way, but Stompfest was popular before cs was. People come to be with their friends, to play like addicts, and to play a LOT of games (as well as share files under the table). Back when BITB was runner up in the cs tourney, we got medals. It was cute, and it was fun to meet everyone. At NO point did we say "wtf omg we want cash we deserve it bs bs!"
Besides, the prize money came down to about 100 bucks a person last time, right? Now, consider you paid 25 bucks to get in, plus 5 to chip into the tourney. I think I speak for everyone when I say we spent at LEAST more than the remaining $70 in bawls...lol :)
But really, if teams come from texas, that's fine. But they don't get a cookie. I'm flying, and just so I can see everyone again, not to "win". From 1000 miles away, no less. I don't think it's possible to keep from spending 100 bucks, or at least 50-60, the entire weekend, unless you live locally, don't eat, and bum a ride off a friend.
Stompfest <> CPL. My memories of my earliest stompfests make me sad to see how drastically serious people are starting to take something (video gaming) that is merely meant to be a fun activity.
Again, please don't feel insulted by this. I tend to come across as angry, but I am not attacking any of you. I suppose it's because of things like the little pricks that raised a crybaby fit at MillionManLan that told me that things had gone WAY too far in terms of tournaments and such.

LOL, I here that all the time, hehe.
I'm with ya Rav, was just making a point if you offer it in one LAN, it's sort of expected. Plus, for those of us who follow the competitive side of CS, it's kinda cool to meet some of those guys.
Hell, I'm 34 and have four kids. I'm going to Stompfest for a little piece and quiet to frag without getting yelled at. :D
I totaly agree with you rave stompfest is bigger just becuase it rocks!!!!

Yeah, I admit meeting people is pretty fun. BITB sent 20 people from our little online community to the January lanwar, and it was a riot.
I've kinda had mixed bags meeting "well known" cs people. Ksharp was a decent kid, looked like he got out once in a while, wasn't cocky, etc. Alec, however, was basically a dick. Period.
Anyhow, I guess it's not good to prejudge people. I guess the whole MML incident left a bad indent on my mind of teenage boys saying they "deserved" prizes.
Is it bad to feel like an old man at 23? :)

Shit Rav.. Im going to be 22 next month, and I get hell for wanting to play stuff like Quake 2 for vintage purposes at LANParties. That makes me feel as old as dirt. These new age gamers can't hang with shit that ain't got 400 ways to run and about 30 weapons to shoot with. Funny how we "experienced" gamers can run the mill on everything. New, Old, and the Just Plain Abandonware games.

Hey, I love abandonware...

Lol, Quake 2 in "Vintage" and 22 is old.....
HA HA HA HA HA HA
When I was "in my 20's" we were playing Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake CTF on LAN and over 28.8 modems.
Ahh, those were the days. No cheats, pure fun. I remember the BNC cables that we'd switch to during lunch and get off the network and get on to our own "Doom-Net".
Damn I'm gettin old...
